    Perfect hero

I wasn't sure I was going to like Harper.  When you first meet her she's a little harsh and brittle but Meader makes sure that you understand that most of it is a front.  She's under a lot of stress, with a lot of insecurities from her youth, and being thrown into the same orbit as her half-sisters and the man that she can't have isn't helping.  Before too long I found myself with all sorts of feels for the poor woman.  But you can't feel too bad for her once Remy turns his attention her way! The youngest with a whole passel of sisters and nieces, Remy was guaranteed to be perfect hero material ... even if he is surrounded by testosterone as a hockey player :)  He's patient and understanding, but also with a streak of charming bad boy in him.  He's the perfect balance of Alpha and sensitive.  He's good for Harper, supportive & caring, and he keeps her life from overtaking her.   My only trouble was with the ending because it's just hard when Harper has been so adamant about how she is perceived.  But you knew it was going to work out some way and I'm pretty sure that this is the only way it would have been satisfying.   Definitely an engrossing read and I'm so intrigued by the other sisters & where there stories are going.  Meader did an amazing job of giving this group of people complexity and depth.  You can't help but want to get to know all of their secrets! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. Great Start to a series

4.5 great start to a new series stars. I enjoyed this book and this couple more than I thought even thought I would. I have read this author before and I enjoyed her Hot in Chicago firefighter series very much but I wasn't sure about the premise of this one (the female owner / player). But the star of the first few books of this series is definitely going to be the 3 sisters and their relationships and personalities, which shouldn't surprise given the great family and relationships I've seen this author write before. Don't get me wrong, the hockey is good and the team and the guys are great. And I enjoyed Remy a ton - very funny and sweet (eventually) and I liked the way he really persued Harper. But I cannot wait for more of the sisters. Well done and I highly recommend this book and I will definitely be purchasing the future books in this series.

    Fantastic

I adored Kate Meader's Chicago firemen but I do believe her hot Chicago hockey guys have them beat!! Remy was fantastic and Harper was the perfect match for him. In the last year of his career Remy DuPre gets traded to the bottom of the barrel Chicago Rebels and let's just say he's not too happy about it. With the last goal of holding the cup on the line he makes a deal with the tough as nails owner Harper Chase. He'll play as hard as he can and lead the team as long as she agrees to trade him to a contending team in 3 months. Everything seems fine until he starts to care a little too much. For his team and for Harper! A fun sexy read I highly recommend.

    4.5 Irresistible Stars!

What an awesome start to a new series! I love a story about girl power. To see a series where women in a position of power of a male dominated sport, is a huge draw for me. The author did such a good job of creating a strong heroine in Harper and pairing her with a sexy Cajun that is powerful in his own right and made it work. I loved everything about this couple. The resistance was expected of the theme of this story and never felt overdone. Remy, his Cajun accent and sexy endearments were a real treat to experience. This had great side characters that will have you looking forward to their own books. I highly recommend this book! ARC provided by NetGalley.

    Charming

This is the first book in the Chicago Rebels series by Kate Meader. It is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has an engaging storyline, entertaining characters and I can't wait to read the next story in this series. This is a charming and emotional story about three estranged stepsisters forced together by the dictates of their father's will. Their father was a critical man and now even in death, he has made their lives difficult. This is Harper's story. Harper is disappointed her father didn't leave the Chicago Rebels hockey team to her. Now she has to deal with two stepsisters she barely knows and they have to make all the decisions about the team together. Harper has been working for her father and with the team for years and she is now the acting general manager. Remy and Harper are brought together when Harper acquires Remy for the Chicago Rebels. Remy’s nickname is Jinx because he is considered the unluckiest guy in the NHL and he is not happy when he is traded to the Rebels. I really liked Remy. He has a great Cajun accent, is close to his family, loves to cook and is sensitive, caring and protective. When Harper first meets Remy she doesn't have a very high opinion of him but the more she gets to know him, the more she likes him. Harper and Remy have a lot of chemistry but because she is his boss, they fight their attraction. My only issue with this story, is there were times I had a difficult time liking Harper. Her father was a mean and heartless man and left all his daughters with issues. Harper can be cold and distant and doesn't always treat Remy well. Remy is always so patient and understanding with Harper and while I admire his patience, I didn't think she deserved it. I liked Harper’s two stepsisters and can't wait to read their stories in the upcoming books in this series. This is a fun and heartwarming story.
