  • secrets revealed, history told, obstacles hurdled

Tyler McKay, one of the founding members of Flatiron Five Fitness, is desperate to blunt his Mother’s incessant attempts at matchmaking, and having a date to his sister’s wedding in a few weeks is part of his plan. When Shannyn Hawke, a young woman he briefly knew at college many years ago, appears at the fitness club for a photo shoot, Tyler throws caution to the wind and agrees to an outrageous deal where she would be his fake date for the event. The fact that Shannyn seems to enjoy provoking Tyler intrigues him, as he struggles to change her long ago opinion of him. As secrets are revealed, past histories told and obstacles hurdled, Tyler and Shannyn move closer to their eventual HEA. As usual with Ms. Cooke, her stories are well written, pulling you into the characters' lives from the first page, and unwilling to let you go after the last page. I highly recommend this book. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

  • Great book!

This was a very well-written, entertaining book. Shannyn is living in the moment, and a work assignment brings her to a meeting with her college crush. Tyler is working on a plan for his future and has no time for relationships. He needs a pretend date to his sister's wedding and Shannyn agrees, in exchange for a night of satisfaction. The chemistry between the two was clear, and there was plenty of humor too. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is the first in a series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

  • Loved it!

Just One Fake Date by Deborah Cooke, is Book One of the new version of the Flatiron Five Fitness club series. Deborah has completely rewritten this first book (formerly Simply Irresistible) to better fit with the other books in the series, and although some of the storyline is the same, the original heroine is gone, and Tyler is now paired with an equally fantastic heroine, Shannyn. Shannyn is a freelance photographer, recovering from a broken heart after a marriage gone wrong. She runs into Tyler, her former college crush, while doing a job, and sparks fly from their first meeting. Tyler remembers her because she told him off the last time they saw each other and didn't give him a chance to defend himself, and now he wishes to prove her wrong. Shannyn proposes a deal with Tyler, he provides her with one night of passion, and she provides him with a fake date to his sister's wedding, to appease his mother's wish for him to be in a relationship. Where it goes from there? Read it and find out! I loved Tyler's original story, so I wasn't sure what to think when Deborah announced plans to revamp his story and change the heroine, but it has really worked out in my opinion. I loved this version even more than the original.
