    Sad Story of Justice Denied

The story is one that needs telling. The persistence of the author is worthy of great praise. The writing is quite readable. The corruption and racism that underpin this tale of horror were pervasive and certainly under cut the federal investigation that solved one spectacular crime, but left few perpetrators adequately punished.

    Spotlight on a shameful time

I had heard a fictionalized account of this story when I watched the FBI Story - a film cited in the book. The movie presented a sanitized picture of something that was infinitely worse - nearly the entire white community preying on natives who had become wealthy. It is chilling in its scope and heartbreaking in its results Many of these people were never punished but I hope this book will give the victims’ descendants some small amount of closure.

    Riveting from the first page

The research that was done to reach the conclusions of the author was painstaking and meticulous. I am so glad I read this and discovered a sad and horrendous part of American Indian history and the callous way that individuals can treat another human being in the name of money and ill gotten gains. A story as old as time but showing evil and greed as always the prime motive. So sad that this type of evil continues every day.

    Gripping Story!

It's a well-researched and well-written book about this fading piece of history. The writing is engaging and I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book!

    Great read!

I wish this history was told to us in High School! Wow, Grann has you in the first paragraph of the first chapter! A must read for history fans.
