  • Gripping but disappointing

Rounded to 3 stars. A very gripping story. And a fast read. I was hooked from the very first page. I enjoyed the writing and especially the structure of the book. Sometimes playing with timelines can be risky (or confusing), but the author did a good job here, although I don’t really think that it was necessary. We are presented with 4 different POV. Each one was well crafted. I did feel the anguish, the despair and frustration of the characters. The little girl’s mental and physical state was touching. Unfortunately this book is not flawless, especially when it comes to the level of believability. That ending was very disappointing. It felt rushed and it was completely unrealistic. The book is definitely very entertaining, but I expected more from the author.

  • Pages turn themselves

Local Woman Missing is a very fast paced book that grabs your attention from page one and never lets up . The ending was unexpected and made the book so that you could not put it down. I loved the ending; didn't even come close to what I was expecting. Its a small town and there are 3 people missing, two women and a child. But that's not all that is happening at the same time!! I don't want to give the plot away ; suffice to say pick up your copy today and put Local Woman Missing at the top of your pile !! Mary Kubica never disappoints!!

  • A suspenseful story

Shelby, a new mother, goes out for a run one night and disappears. The community searches for her to no avail. Then Meredith and her six year old daughter also disappear . . . Told in alternate chapters spaced over a decade apart, this is a fast-paced read which keeps the reader’s attention right from the beginning. While the story is suspenseful, part of the story is not believable, and I was disappointed by the end.

  • Mary Kubica Nver Disappoints!!

A neighborhood that sees little crime is shook to it's core when not 1 but 2 women go missing. 1 of the women is missing along with her 6 yr old daughter. All takes place within a matter of weeks. Are they connected? Josh and Meredith seem to have the perfect life, Josh is successful in the Insurance field and Meredith is a yoga instructor and a doula , they are happy with their 2 children, Delilah 6 and Leo 4. Her doula job takes her away from home all hours of the night, which is always a concern for Josh. They are stunned when a woman, Shelby Tebow, goes missing in their neighborhood. Is there foul play? A few weeks later, Meredith and her 6 yr old daughter go missing. It begins a search that the entire neighborhood gets involved in. Having no answers, the case goes cold, until 11 years later a girl escapes her captors claiming to be Delilah. This kicks off a chilling journey to the heart of the shocking truth of what happened 11 years ago. Told in dual timelines from 11 years ago and present time from a few different people's perspectives, it all comes together for a satisfying ending. I have been a fan of Mary Kubica since I read The Good Girl, which is a book I always recommend to people that are looking for psychological thrillers. Now I will add this book with it. I was on the edge of my seat and did not want to put it down.

  • Loved!!!!!

My Review: From the very first page to the very last page this book had me on pins and needles the whole time. I was totally hooked. I could not put it down for the life of me. I loved it and will shout that to the moon and back. This was my very first book by this author and she sure did not disappoint. I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. In fact after I finished this book I went on Amazon and bought a few more of her books. I can’t wait to start them. I want to start off by saying that this book could definitely be made into a movie and was hands down my favorite read of the year so far. It had everything that I loved. Great characters, great plot, and a shocking ending. What more can you ask for in a book? I loved every single one of the characters in this book. All the characters worked so well together to make this book come together so nicely. There was not one character that was out of place or that I felt was wrong for this book. Everyone who knows me knows I love a good child kidnapping book especially the ones where they are found many years later. There are so many questions I have when they come back and I loved the way this book addressed them all. Now on to that shocking of an ending. I love dark and twisty endings and let me tell you this one had a real big whopper of one. I never would’ve guessed it in a million years. This was definitely my favorite ending in a book and that is saying a lot coming from me. I am so happy I chose to read this. Lastly, the characters, plot, and the ending of this book made this an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend this book and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
