Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!

This is a story about excepting yourself for who you are and not worrying about what others see on the outside. I loved this story because it throws away the norm of what a romance heroine should look like and explores the science of attraction. Lucy is a big girl who has been through a lot regarding her weight and has become defensive rather than let anyone hurt her again. Frankie is a hot fireman who sees past Lucy's body to the person inside but has a tough time getting Lucy to believe him. This story is heartfelt, steamy and thought provoking. Every romance loving woman out there should grab this book and enjoy Frankie and Lucy's journey to loving themselves and loving each other.

Society says no, she says heck no

entertaining story that includes a Big, Beautiful, Woman handling all that life throws a woman of her size. Accepting it, not taking the usual comments, proving that no matter what size of clothes a woman wears, it doesn't automatically mean failure. It also includes, what the book states, a man slut. But he sees no harm in having sex as he leaves them satisfied and is out front that it's just for sex and fun with no entanglements. But one day he's told that he has never felt love and will always be a man slut. With that on his mind, he hears a man talking to a BBW in a very awful manner and goes to her aid by pretending to be her boyfriend. This incident leads to many serious and hilarious situations down the road when they both come to an agreement of "pretend." They both come to the realization that what they think is not always true and must deal with the consequences. I've already given you too much, let me just say this is a terrific story of a strong woman, a story that needs to be told more often. Whether their story leads to love or unhappiness isn't the point, the point is that their story needs to be told. I've been one of those women for the better part of 60 years and have rarely seen a book from the point of view of a not perfect size woman, but one who is smart and not afraid to speak her mind and live her life. Kudos to the author, Avery Flynn, for giving us a wonderful story filled with the pain we fill, but also with the happiness and pleasure that is out there for all of us.

    Must read

Avery Flynn has a way of writing great romantic comedies and then kicking them up a notch with amazing characters you won't soon forget. The characters in this book are extraordinary and the story although emotional at times was also fun and light hearted. Lucy was one tough lady and probably the only one that could tame Frankie's wild womanizing ways. Put this on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

    Muffin Top by Avery Flynn

This book is laugh-out loud funny but also has room for a few tears. Enjoyed it very much.

    Witty, wonderfully original Romcom

Witty, wonderfully original Romcom Muffin Top the second book in Avery Flynn's The Hartigans series was great fun and the first book I've read by the author. Lucy and Frankie are well developed characters who grow together to become a fun unexpected couple. I loved the adventure they go on as they journey and participate in Lucy's high school reunion. The book can be read as a stand alone though I enjoyed the secondary characters, who added much to the story and look forward to reading all the books in the series. I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
