    Every inch a hero

This is a refreshing change from Ms Sinclair's Doms and subs. Gabe is very much a hero despite his reluctance to be involved in the town of Rescue as he takes on the role of Chief of Police. But the title refers as much to Julie/Audrey as it does to him. Not only does she best a homicidal sociopath but she creates her own unsanctioned off the grid witness protection. Both carve their own niche in Rescue, earning the respect and support of the townspeople and and those who choose to live in dry cabins hidden in the woods around the town. I especially enjoyed the scene at the town meeting where Gabe's past as not being an Outsider is revealed to the amazement of the town, as well as watching Julie returning to being Audrey as her confidence and her realisation that she is both respected and really has a place to belong grows. Throw in a cult, the PZ, who I suspect will be a constant thorn in the side of Mako's boys throughout this series, and a killer hellbent on revenge for what one little librarian did to him and you have more than enough tension and suspense. The prologue goes a long way to explaining why Gabe, Bull, Caz and Hawk are brothers and how vital Mako was to them becoming the men they are. In this book we have brief glimpses into the way Mako raised the boys and I am hoping that more will be revealed in the following books. I am really looking forward to meeting the citizens of Rescue again.

A great start to a new series!

I really enjoyed this story! This is a great start to a new series, set in a wonderful town, full of colourful characters, and they are just starting to find their way, to be a town. Of course, they have some dangerous and unstable neighbours, but that just enhances the setting This is the story of the new police chief, who is sure, he is there temporarily. His two brothers, they hope he will stay. Of course, he meets, and is attracted to someone, and it is obvious, she has more of a story than she is showing to them. She is also here, temporarily. Lots of sexy things happen, and some truly sweet things happen, and some really bad and dangerous things happen. Of course, we get our happily ever after, and it left me feeling that happy feeling, and I loved it!

    Wonderful start to new series

I loved this book. I could relate to both the Hero and the Heroine. Granted I've never been attacked by folks trying to kill me, but I could get their insecurity and burnout feelings. I also enjoy small town stories, and this was a great one. With folks trying not to let their town die, but not wanting to lose their identity to outsiders either. This is a great weekend read- especially if it is cold outside and you can curl up with a fire and a cocoa. Cannot wait until the next book is released!

I can’t say how much I loved this book! It has the humor, the confidence of the main characters, the suspense and love. A great new series that left me wanting more!
