5 stars for this epic story

You guys know that best friends to lovers stories are totally my jam. And this book does not disappoint! This was a great addition to the series and probably my favorite so far. Their romance was sweet and sexy. And the dirty talk, hot! Ben's growth at the end of the book really made me fall for him. And Maddox standing up for himself and his needs was exactly what they both needed. A great friends-to-lovers book with an epilogue that was everything. The story starts out a bit differently than previous installments in this series. Ben and Maddox are on a mission that goes terribly wrong. As they work to get to safety, we see how things have been evolving in their relationship over the last few months in flashbacks. Though they have been best friends since forever, they are very different. Ben doesn't trust love. Since his ex left him high and dry, Ben has lived a carefree life, rarely repeating a bed partner and sleeping in Maddox's spare bedroom. Another relationship just isn't in the cards for him. While Maddox has longed for stability, a person to call his and he doesn't do hookups. When they make it home, more or less whole, they decide to see if their chemistry translates to something more. Ben throws himself into dating Mad because almost losing him was enough of a wake-up call, but Mad is hesitant to make this a real relationship because he doesn't really think this is what Ben wants. “But I don’t want to be the guy limiting you, making you hold on to something you don’t really want. Maybe it’s not in your nature—” “You’re in my nature.” When Ben discovers the thing Maddox has been hesitating to tell him, he feels betrayed and let down yet again by someone who was supposed to be there for him. The one person he trusted. There is also an excerpt at the end from the next book in the series, Wheels Up, and it features Dustin (we met him in At Attention. He is Dylan's brother and Apollo's best friend). I did not read the excerpt because I prefer not to torture myself too much...but I hear it calling to me.

I wish I could give this one 10 stars.

I sound like a broken record. When I reviewed At Attention (book 2 in this series) I said I didn't think the books in the Out of Uniform series could get any better. I think I was wrong. OK maybe not wrong exactly. It's just that every book in this series has been so perfect for me. On Point was so emotionally satisfying, including bringing on the tears by the time I reached chapter #4. I just don't really know how this story could have been any better. Best friends to lovers – oh yeah, one of my favorite tropes – and not one, but two, hot SEALs. Ben and Maddox have been best buddies since they went through BUD/S training together, over 10 years ago. Along the way they've each had relationships, both good and bad. Ben was married shortly and it was a spectacular, and trust-breaking, failure. Now he will never again give that much trust to anyone. Maddox has secretly had a crush on Ben going all the way back to BUD/S training even though he had a boyfriend at the time. Now that Ben is living with him it's getting harder and harder for him to push his feelings back. I wish this review could do justice to Annabeth's writing in On Point. OMG – what she puts these guys through in this book! This one was gut-wrenching in places but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. I won't say more except that there is definitely an HEA. If you like M/M books with hot guys, especially ones in Uniform, you really need to get this book. A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions***

    Not What I Was Expecting

I was really excited for this one because I love friends-to-lovers books and I was intrigued by the book blurb’s reference to the characters being stranded on a mission waiting for rescue — cue the action sequence! For the most part, Albert delivered on my excitement. There were a lot of flashback scenes in the beginning of the book as they both remember points in their friendship and there were also flashbacks to several months prior when things got, shall we say awkward between Maddox and Ben. I’m not a fan of threesomes, they’re just not my thing, I’m selfish and don’t want to share my partner with anyone. However, that’s not the case for Ben and he tempts Maddox into a threesome that is fully described in a flashback; it just wasn’t my thing. Once these two are together, though, there were no threesomes and they were strictly monogamous. I didn’t mind the flashbacks though I was glad they were only in the beginning of the book because once these two were together, I didn’t want to go back, I only wanted to go forward. The romance was really sweet and these two truly knew how to turn up the heat. Ben was a great character but he is certainly more cynical about love and relationships and he’s much more focused on just the military. Sometimes I felt like Ben wasn’t as complexly written because his focus was so narrow, but overall you can see the depth of his character through his actions and his equal dedication to Maddox. I loved Maddox because he was so complex and really fleshed out as a character. He might be a SEAL but he also loves to cook, has dreams of things outside the military, and he’s dedicated to taking care of Ben. I liked that Ben was the one who approached a relationship first because it made more sense that someone generally against relationships would have to really want it in order to start something. Ben’s commitment to dating was a bit of a turn around for his character but I think in his mind he had this goal, to keep Maddox in his life and make him happy, and he just pushed through to his goal. Plus, I imagine having a near death experience for yourself and your best friend can really change your perspective on life and make you reassess things. Ben and Maddox were both great and were so devoted to each other and each put so much emphasis on making the other person happy.

You don't want to miss this story

WOW!! On Point is another fantabulous book by the awesome Annabeth Albert! I've loved every book I've read yet I feel she just keeps getting better and better! I recommend putting her on your automatic one-click author list. Her stories are full of depth and heart, with characters who come alive on the pages of her books. You won't find cardboard stereotypes which is one of the many things I love about her books. Ben and Maddox are a dynamite couple. Their sex appeal and chemistry is palpable! I know their HEA will truly last forever because they built their relationship on a solid, 12-year friendship. They've seen each other at their best and their worst, as well as everything in between. It still takes learning to really communicate to achieve their HEA. Very realistic. I can't urge you enough to read On Point. I laughed, cried, got angry, wanted to slap some sense into both of them. I was fully invested in the story and read it in one setting. If you haven't read Annabeth Albert, what are you waiting for?
