    Fantastic!

Rutherfurd never disappoints. The tale of Paris through out the ages is told by a clutch of fictional Paris families. Instead of a linear re-hashing of known history and notable figures, this epic is derived from the lives of every-men/women and how they might have perceived the events of their time. Historical figures tend to enter the story as punctuation of significant events, not ever as a focal point. Those accustomed to his writing style will notice a variation in Rutherford's delivery. Instead of delivering the story chronologically, the story jumps around between the centuries, adding an additional layer of craftsmaship to the writing.

    Paris

400 year of French history in interestingly crafted story..the space between fiction and fact diminishes as we follow the families through triumph and tragedy.

    Paris, in all the years

Like his other books, the city is the star, its people the heart. The only reason I didn't give him another star is the lack of chronological order...we jump back and forth years, leading to confusion at times.
