  • Okay, not great

I love Piper Rayne. Their books are usually a good blend of sweet, funny, and sizzling. The Real Deal has these qualities, but some of the characters were hard to warm up to and I get tired of storylines when characters have all sorts of secrets. That gets tiresome. With that said, this book is an easy read and does have some charming attributes. PROS: Marcus and his 5 yr old daughter's relationship. Very sweet and Marcus puts Lily first in every choice he makes. Catherine (Cat) has grown up since her first encounter with Marcus and has become a very mature, self confident woman. She is also great with the kids at the camp in which she is a counselor. CONS: All the secrets. Marcus doesn't tell Lily about her mom when she asks. The Sam with Cat when she broached the subject. Marcus and Cat pretending they never met before when both recall that fateful meeting 6 yrs earlier. The biggest annoyance is Marcus' friend Dane. Hes a big goofball and really annoying. Can't imagine his story in this series would be one I'd like to read if he doesn't make a huge change in his persona. Overall, just an okay book.

  • Fun Read

Real Deal by Piper Rayne is a fantastic contemporary romance. The Piper Rayne duo has produced a book that is well-written and furnished it with outstanding characters. Marcus is a single dad since his wife walked out him and their daughter Lily. Cat is Lily's counselor at the day camp and has a short but humiliating past with Marcus. Marcus and Cat's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and a little suspense. I enjoyed reading Real Deal and look forward to reading more from Piper Rayne in the future. Real Deal is book 1 of the Single Dads Club Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
