  • Great end to a fun series

I was both thrilled and sad to read this book. This is the ninth, and final, book in the Bailey’s series of books. I have loved this series from the first book and am sad that we won’t be seeing the Baileys front and center any more. The books center around the nine siblings in the Bailey family. When their parents were tragically killed, the two oldest decide to raise the family themselves. Each of the previous stories are a different romantic trope (oops, my one night stand is my new boss; younger brothers best friend; surprise baby, etc.). This is a wonderful second chance romance with Sedona Bailey and Jamison Ferguson. In the prior book, Sedona left Jamie when she was eight months pregnant, because of his drinking. Jamie turned to drinking after an injury ended his professional soccer career. It is now 18 months later, and Jamie has returned to Lake Starlight. He has been sober for a year and determined to make amends and win back the love of his life and his daughter. I loved Jamie and Sedona, and their story may be one of my favorite in the series. While I suppose this could be read as a stand-alone, you will really want to read from the beginning to really appreciate the Baileys. I received an arc of this book from the author for my honest review.

  • One of my favorites of this series!

I have loved the Bailey family from the first time I opened book one of this series. Each book has been so engaging and it's impossible not to fall in love with this family. With this being the last book in the series, I think it's probably one of the ones I've been looking most forward to and it didn't disappoint! Sedona Bailey returned back to Lake Starlight eighteen months ago after walking out on her boyfriend and the father of her baby. She gave birth to Palmer and with the help of her family, she's been raising her little girl in the town she grew up in. When her ex shows up in town, she's not sure she's ready to forgive him, but knows that her daughter deserves to have him in her life. Jamison Ferguson has had a rough few years. He was a professional soccer player, but an injury ended that dream and unfortunately he fell into alcohol abuse. When Sedona took off nearly two years ago, Jamison was in such a bad way that it has taken until now for him to get himself to a point where he was ready to fight for his relationship with her and to get to know his daughter. While Sedona knows she needs to let Jamison into Palmer's life, she's not so sure about him being in hers. There is no doubt she still loves him, but he hurt her and left her when she needed him the most. Can she forgive him or will she protect her heart instead? So many good things happened in this book. It was a wonderful story that was centered on Jamison and Sedona, but we certainly didn't have a shortage of the other Bailey's! The one thing I will say is that this book does need to be read after you've read the other books in the series. You will definitely be happier if you do it that way! While I know this is technically the end of the series, we have Operation Bailey Babies to look forward to later this year and I for one am happy we aren't done with Alaska either with the new series Piper Rayne will be introducing to us soon!

  • Every story has an ending.

I was crying when I reached the end of Rules For Dating Your Ex by Piper Rayne, not just because of the emotional finish, but because it really is the end of the ‘story road’ for the Bailey’s of Lake StarLight. Sedona was the last Bailey to find her happy ever after, and it was a tangled, emotional love story if ever there was one. Sedona met Jamison right at the beginning of the series and they fell madly in love. But, while she went to college in New York, Jamison returned home to play professional football. Eventually, they were reunited when Jamison arrived in NYC to play soccer there and for a time, it seemed all was right in their world, until book 8. Sedona came back to Lake Starlight… pregnant- and alone. Her big love affair was over and done with. Or so it seemed. Sedona has been mentioned at times, been present at others and only a text or phone call away for the rest in every single book in this fabulous series. But now, she gets to shine the light on her past with Jamison, show us the guy she originally fell for and in time, the one she’ll fall for again. After suffering an accident, Jamison let his frustrations with his lot in life get the better of him and he lost not just his career but his love too. Eighteen months later, he’s ready to be the man… and the father he should have been, but will Sedona give him the chance? He hurt her badly and she’s wary of letting him in. But, her daughter, Palmer, needs her dad. It’s the only reason she allows him to get close. This book had all the feels. It’s angsty, heart-warming and it’ll make you cry. You’ll smile too, if bittersweetly as the end is reached. I think Piper Rayne has kept the best until last, as this book filled every nook and cranny. It’s not to be missed that’s for sure.

  • Great end to the series

One of the best family series has come to an end! Rules for Dating Your Ex is the final book in the Bailey’s series and what an end it was! Jamison and Sedona’s story was one of redemption and an unconditional love that brought them back to each other after so much heartbreak. The pain and anger in this story broke my heart but as always, Piper Rayne put my heart back together. I loved everything about this story!

  • Sedona gets her HEA!

I can hardly believe we have come to the end. What an incredible journey it has been and oh is it bittersweet. Sedona is the 9th Bailey sibling to get her HEA and what a story it is. Of all the Bailey’s Sedona is the one we know the least about. She has been living in NYC and we had seen her the least out of all the siblings in previous books. Jamison is the love of Sedona’s life. They were high school sweethearts and he was a foreign exchange student from Scotland. He is now a professional soccer player but he made some mistakes, lost his way and end up breaking her heart. I really felt for Sedona having to make the tough choice to leave Jamison as it is what is best for her and her unborn child. She is strong and resilient and of course has an incredibly supportive family to help her get through this tough time. Jamison has an addiction to alcohol. I really had a hard time with some of his decisions initially but at the same time I commended him for doing what he needed to do to better himself to be the father he knows his daughter deserves. Sedona and Jamison are truly meant to be. Despite their hardships their love was never in question nor did it go away. These two have a strong connection and their chemistry was off the charts. I really enjoyed this second chance love story. Piper Rayne have created such a wonderful story. This portrays a beautiful message of second chances, hope, redemption and happiness and I adored it. We also finally get to know who is behind the Buzz Wheel FINALLY! Piper Rayne are incredible at telling stories. This series and this family is one of my favourites ever and I really hope we get some appearances from them in futures books to come.
