    Fresh characters, strong female relationships

After a devastating attack at her apartment, Liz Lewis needs to get out of town for a while, especially since she has a fairly good idea of the identity of her attacker. So she accepts help from her coworker Scott, who has a place outside the city where she can hide. She doesn't expect a sullen farmer who isn't all that happy to have her around...at first. The best part of Sanctuary was the enemies to friends to lovers story between Liz and Silas. Even though it takes a bit for them to fall into bed together, the spark is clear from the beginning. It's only a matter of time. What makes their relationship interesting is a bit of opposites attract and the fact that Liz likes to dominate during sex, and Silas is okay with being submissive, for the most part. There are some real feelings developing between them that go beyond the bedroom and I was glad to have alternating points of view between Liz and Silas to understand just where they were coming from. Complications arise as a result of Liz's attack and the measures she takes, and there are circumstances pertaining to Scott that provides conflict to the story. Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It's a nice followup to the first book in the series. I loved the diversity, the strong female relationships, the straight-talk. I read this in less than a day because it held my interest. Most of all, the characters are fresh and different than what I normally get in a romance of this sort and I liked that very much about the story. Looking forward to more in this series!
