    3.5**

This is the final instalment in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Moose is a man that has loved Penelope for what seems like forever. He's an incredible man, and so patient helping Penelope deal with her demons. Though this is the 15th novel in the series, I have only read one other book, and I think having read all the others in the series would have helped in knowing more about the other characters in the book. The group of friends are talked about many times, and I felt like I was missing little pieces of the puzzle. This certainly doesn't take away from the impact of Moose's character, or the strength of Penelope. So...why only 3.5*? There was something missing for me. I can't figure out exactly what it is though. Maybe the one sided passion and deep-seeded love that Moose had for Penelope for 75% of the book frustrated me. I mean - you have the hulk of a man that LOVES you to bits, and will do ANYTHING to help you heal. It also seemed to me that the book hit Mach 1 as soon as Penelope realized her feelings for Moose were true. I know Moose told us many times it would happen, but it just went too quickly for me. I don't think I got the chance to finally take that big sigh that Penelope had FINALLY realized how deep her feelings were.....and then BAM! the book was done! I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but that certainly doesn't mean I hated the book, or would never read any other Stoker novel.....there was just something not there for me!

    Great finish for series

Possibly the best book of the whole series; ties up everything well & some crossover of characters from other series.

    Shelter for Penelope

Enjoyed! Wasn't the tear jerker from other reviews that I've read I expected, but well written. Yes, I would read again and maybe a bit slower so I don't finish so fast, but overall, enjoyable!

    Fight like a girl!

Penelope's story is the perfect way for this series to end. Her leaving Texas let us reconnect with characters from Ms Stoker's other series. Seeing Penelope move forward with Moose is the perfect tribute for the fictitious White and Black as well as all the real life service personnel who didn't come home. Fight like a girl says it all.
