    An absorbing historical story

"The American Agent", the latest installment of Jacqueline Winspear’s “Maisie Dobbs" series, is set in London during the blitz of 1940. In this installment, Maisie is engaged in searching for the killer of Catherine Saxon, an American correspondent reporting from London. Historical details enhance the story, providing a very good picture of a London devastated by German air attacks. As Maisie searches for clues to Catherine's mysterious death, the reader becomes engrossed in the characters and events. The surprising conclusion of "The American Agent" will likely surprise readers and is a very good ending to an excellent story. A great read!

    The American agent

Extremely well written story, another Marie Dobbs gripping tale. Felt as though I was actually experiencing London at the time of the blitz.

    Loved it

Her books just seem to get better and better. Rather surprised to find Boer war spelled as Bore but outside of that fast paced and very engrossing novel.

    Another great Maisie Dobbs read!

Each year I eagerly await the next Maisie Dobbs book. The American Agent is one of the best among the series. I especially appreciated the many Edward R Murrow wartime quotes at the beginnings of the chapters. As an American, I now better understand his role in changing Americans' mind about helping England. The last quote is from his memorial and it's excellent. And now, I wait for another year!
