    Unforgettable

I knew this book wouldn't be an "easy" read due to its subject matter, but I was surprised to find it a very readable and emotional page-turner as well as an important piece of history. Aminata's journey is devastating and unforgettable. This book can't be praised enough.

    Well worth the read.....

A gripping story that reveals the injustices inflicted on our fellow man in the perpetration of the slave trade as told through the life story of Aminata Diallo, who as a child of 11 was taken from her home in Africa & transported to a life as a slave in 17th century America. Through her unwavering desire to return to her homeland, we learn of the unconscionable brutality that she faced throughout her life but how she still managed to live and love with dignity and grace overcoming her oppressors and becoming an inspiration to blacks & whites alike in the fight to abolish slavery in the early 18th century.

    Awesome

This was a great book beginning to end, the life of the ancestors of our black citizens , the hardships, the injustice, and pure animalistic way they were treated while still carrying on as normal a family life as possible is well portrayed. I started to watch the series but wanted to read the book first as I find I usually enjoy the written version much more and I wasn't disappointed

    Gripping

This book was amazing. I was so drawn in I couldn't put it down. Historically educational, and so incredibly emotional. I find myself still thinking about it weeks after I've read it.
