    Fascinating historical mystery!

The ninth book in the Lady Emily series opens with a lavish masquerade ball in honour of the Diamond Jubilee festivities in 1897 in England. Lady Emily is mistaken for another guest at the party, a woman purported to be an old friend of Emily's friend Cecile. When Cecile meets her supposed old friend Estella, she quickly unmasks her as an imposter. When the imposter flees & is subsequently murdered, Lady Emily's husband Colin is called upon to solve the murder. The trail leads to Paris and Colin & Emily with Cecile and their old friend Jeremy travel there to try to unmask the murder and the mysterious life of Estella. This is an engrossing and macabre tale that introduces the reader to two of the highlights of Paris - the catacombs & the Pere Lachaise cemetery. I found the ending disturbing and some of the linkages to solving the mystery weak but, it is a fascinating historical mystery story.

    The Counterfeit Heiress

Throughly enjoyable. Another suspenseful plot that pulls you along, with your curiosity demanding satisfaction, which the author again satisfies anew.

As good as the first 8 books

This is the 9th book in the Lady Emily Mysteries and I have enjoyed all of them. There is enough mystery to keep you guessing and the characters all feel real and are fully developed.
