    Wonderful Quirky Steam Punk Novel

This wonderfully quirky novel is a must read. Loved the character of Jane Darcy. This is a delightful romp with some darker twists and turns. Hawkins had a masterful hand at creating interesting and addictive worlds.

    Brilliant, Intelligent, Witty

Book Review – The Curious Case of Simon Todd Author – Vanessa Hawkins Genre –Paranormal, Steampunk, First Line: Simon Todd had only just perished, but the fact that he wasn’t sure if he could smell his afternoon tea was much more concerning at the moment. Review: Simon Todd died but yet still resides as a living, breathing accountant that sneezes small arachnids. He’s bigger than life, as are all of the characters in Ms. Hawkins story. If you’re looking for a brilliantly written, fantastical, witty, intelligent, yet sometimes whimsical story…something out of the ordinary mish-mash genre-bender, this tale sends you on an adventure of a lifetime. I’ve never read anything quite like it, and can imagine this book being movie material with excellent special effects included:) Good show!

    Whimsical, well-written fantasy

Hawkins had me at the beginning when her protagonist died, falling off the roof, while spying on his beloved. Yep, he spends the book as a ghost and that's the kinda book it is. Fantastic. It's like the Coen brothers conspired to make a steam-punk, British tale of whimsy, fantasy, and fun, yet Hawkins ain't British or a Coen. I loved this book. When it takes a turn toward cliche, it veers hard off the beaten path. A major character is a dragon in human disguise who chose (due to his literary leaning) the unfortunate name of Mr. Jane Darcy. Nominally steam-punk, Hawkins' book is so much fun, I couldn't wait for it to end. Definitely looking forward to Ms. Hawkins' further writing. Highly recommended to fantasy readers or, heck, just plain readers. I don't like fantasy that much. But I do love this book.
