The Girl Who Takes An Eye For An Eye

I was disappointed in this book. I have read the whole series so far and this is the first time I was disappointed. I found it disjointed in places, left hanging in others, and it felt like the author was re-inventing Lisbeth Salander into a different person. The author's portrayal of her, in this book, is weak, her character is lacking in depth I did not find her exciting at all. Previously Lisbeth had more cunning, was more real. He, David L., referred to an event (I'll not ruin it for you), early on in the book, poorly fleshed out; then brings it up again closer to the end of the book and sort of drops it in your lap and then forgets about (big event). My guess is it is his way of introducing the reader to what might be the thrust of the next book. It's hard to explain everything that was wrong but if this author cannot do a better job if it next time I will not buy another of this series. Too bad, really, because this character and her story was probably far from over...once.

The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye

Since “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” first came out, I have been fascinated by Stieg Larsson’s novels. Now, David Lagercrantz has continued that tradition, and he has done it so well. My hope is that all of the novels in this series will continue to be made into films...and only Swedish films!! The Americans just don’t get it. My other hope is that Naomi Rapace and the rest of the cast will stay on board for the films, and that David Lagercrantz will keep the books on coming. What an enormous tribute to Stieg Larsson.

Enjoyable if you Like New Author

I enjoyed this 5th book in the series written in the typical Swedish crime novel fashion, and with continuation our favourite characters. There are several story lines - one touches on a modern social / ethnic topic and another that gives greater insight to Lisabeth's background. If you liked the new author - David's Lagercrantz's - 4th book, you'll enjoy this one. If not, you will not like this latest one.
