  • Deeply touching

I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes stories connected to WWII. I learned a lot about the kinder transport during this time. It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next and feeling disturbed about the whole situation.

I found this book very hard to get into but, once the pattern became clear, it was a compelling read. As time passes it becomes more important than ever that the stories of these brave people, including the parents who let their children go in order to save them, should not be lost. This is highly recommended for younger generations who might not appreciate the stresses that others went through all those years ago.

  • Very sad tale told very well

I found the subject of this book very sad and depressing, but the Jewish and gentile families who saw no way out except to send their children away to another country to give them a chance at a future life. All the history happened and the author wrote the tale into and around it, sad, but very readable. The children journeys were very dangerous and tense but are probably very true to what it was like.
