    The Party

A well written, captivating book that ends so poorly and with little and possibly no literary courage. A great disappointment.

    The Party

This was a great book. I was actually kind of shocked at how good this book was. There was only one review of it when I bought it and it said it was "a nice light read." So I was expecting something along the lines of a Fluff piece. Which, to be honest I was kind of in the mood for. Instead, I found myself riveted and totally intrigued. The characters are just unbelievably deep and interesting and the story seems to be a very accurate depiction of life in today's society. It's a real thinker book. You'll be thinking about it quite often when you're not reading -and you will try to be reading it all the time. If I had one gripe, it would be the ending. But I think most people will probably really like the ending and the truth is it's a very real ending. This was a great book. It is a real window into the society we live in today. The trials of being a high-school student, the trials of being an adult, the trials of being a spouse and a parent. It's all here. I think a lot of people are going to really identify with it. I recommend this book highly.

    Disappointing Read

I was so excited to read this book at first but it was very hard to get through without giving up on it. The characters are hollow and unlikeable and the story moves far too slowly to maintain interest.

    The Party

Not a difficult read, but not a light read either. The ramifications of our choices is the spotlight of this novel, as well as class structure and the sense of entitlement by those with substantial financial means. Intimidation, cyber bullying, legal threats... all the fallout of a horrendous incident at "The Party".
