  • Unusual and compelling fantasy

The Raven Tower is an unusual and compellingly written fantasy. I found it difficult to read at first, due to the unusual narrative style (the narrator speaks directly to one of the characters throughout) which struck me at first as merely precious, but that style quickly proved to be a wonderful way to tell that particular story. Once I got into it, I found the book very hard to put down. This novel is completely self-contained and does not appear to be the first of a series. There are many diversions from the main plot into little vignettes that are delightful short stories in their own right.

  • Incredibly satisfying ending

I absolutely could not put this book down. Leckie deftly created an incredibly complex, well thought out world. I admire the way she slowly but surely changes your perspective on the story as you learn new pieces of information. It also has one of the most satisfying endings of any novel I have ever read. I would gladly read this again (and again, and again!)

  • Raven Tower

I did not enjoy this book. I did not like the style in which it is written and the over long deliberations of the rock.

  • Complex, Unusual, Amazing

I felt the ending was a little rushed, but the gorgeous writing, the world, the characters, the brilliant portrayal of nature-gods and godly power, the entire slow reveal of the complex centuries-old godly struggle was so brilliant I hardly minded. The Strength and Patience of the Hills is the god-narrator, and that is exactly how the book feels... like you are watching something very old and very patient and very, very strong fall from a great height onto the largely unsuspecting characters. Leckie is amazing.

  • The raven tower

It took a bit to get into it, but I really enjoyed it once I became vested. Very unique take on the characters and their journey. Would have rated 5 stars if there was an epilogue - I wanted more closure.
