Very similar to The daugter of the pirate king. Very exciting and grrat world building.

    Brutal and Beautiful

I really loved this dark, bloody re-telling of the Little Mermaid. Author Alexandra Christo does not hold back from putting her characters in tough situations, with a whole heap of pain accompanying them. The story was beautifully written and the lore was unique and intriguing to read. I definitely wanted more after experiencing this book! The book was slight on action but heavy on character drama. I have to say that while it took me a little while to warm up to the main characters (let's face it, they're troublemakers with high body counts) I found myself wanting to know more about them and how they would react with their inevitable collision. While the romance was there, it was more fun flirting and banter. While I truly love the side characters of Madrid, Kye, and Khalia, but I'm torn between Elian and Lira. They are both strong, fierce characters who will do the best for their people, even though they crave freedom. There are some truly deep and heart wrenching moments in Lira's backstory in particular, and I would have loved to spend more time with the main characters and knowing reasons behind their actions. I understood Lira's more than Elian's, but none of this took away my enjoyment of the story. It was intense at the end and exciting and I had a great time reading it. I definitely am excited to read more by this author!

    Excellent!

Fun read. You literally get sucked in from the beginning. I love the ramantic undertones and exciting battles.

    It is amazing!

Honestly I wasn't too sure of it at first and I did not like how it started. It gets sooo much better as the book goes on and I love the charecter devopment! Highly Recomended!

To me this book took a bit to get into. But then it took off! I really grew to love the main characters. I loved the world building and relatinships! It was a grittier retailing of "The Little Mermaid" and I just love seeing these stories retold in different ways. Like i said it may take abit to get into, but its defintely worth a read!
