    Great story

St Vincent's Fort, Portugal October 1810 Major Harry Trentbury is stationed at the fort during the Battle of Sobral and Miss Julia Chalmers is there with her father, a professor as she helps to care for the wounded mean. Julia is a healer who was found as a baby by the Professor who raised her own his own. There is a strong attraction between Harry and Julia that cannot be denied but she feels he is so far above her in station and he deserves so a better person. This is the story of trying to find true love amid uncertain times and trying to breach barriers that in the end do not matter. A very sweet story that will warm your heart! Enjoyed the unusual setting in Portugal

I really enjoyed this book about the Battle of Sobral. I appreciate the effort the author took to be as historically accurate as possible. This was the first time I encountered a romance set during this time that does more than mention someone was either off fighting Napoleon or had just returned. You really feel the tension, understand Julia and Harry’s need to be with each other while they could because his unit could be called out to fight at any time. There were lighter moments as well, especially when Jamie was in the scene. Great characters and an interesting story. My one criticism is when Harry received a letter from his brother. He didn't open it, but was waiting until he was alone. I was expecting it to contain some news that would affect the plot but it wasn't even mentioned after that. Regency romance

A well written historical romance that takes place during the war. Nice storyline and plot. Sometimes it felt too rushed though and that made it lack depth. The characters have a nice chemistry and they are well defined and develops nicely. A story that has a different beginning than usually for the regency romance stories. We are thrown right into planning a war. Not what I expected but absolutely a thing that made the story better. It is very captivating and the writing style is as always when it comes to Joanne Wadsworth amazing. And that gives it a four star review.
