  • Loved it!

This story embodies my favorite romance trope and it is pure perfection. The Tinley and Ignacio have a shaky past and some unfinished business. Business that Ignacio didn’t even know about until he went back to his hometown because his grandpa had a stroke. Needless to say it was a shock for both him and Tinley but especially for Alex. Watching these 3 slowly become a family was amazing. It had its ups and downs and tragedies in between but that’s family and love. This story isn’t too suspenseful or drama filled in the sense of kidnappings or bad guys but it has its emotional suspense and drama. Trust me that emotional suspense and drama is enough and it makes the story real. I can’t wait for the next story. One thing I will say, is I wish I had gotten to see Puff Daddy meet Alex in the flesh. I bet that would’ve been a hoot!

  • all the frustrations, tension and angst of a secon

3.5 stars Truth Be Told by Marie James definitely brings out all the frustrations, tension and angst of a second chance romance. I loved reading about all the heartbreak and heartache. And the beautiful ending was worth it. Ignacio and Tinley were high school sweethearts. And the Ignacio had to break her heart because he didn't think his dark life is worth holding her back in their wretched small town. Now he is back. Years have passed. And Ignacio has an entirely different kind of life. When he sees Tinley again, his world crumbles as Tinley has been hiding something big from him. I have very divided opinion about this story. I loved Ignacio. He had a rough upbringing and he got involved in some criminal parties to survive. But Tinley brought light to his bleak world and leaving her almost broke him. He fought constantly and went into army and now works for a successful security company. He is loyal and honest and dedicated to his brothers. Even when Tinley kept him in dark, he is trying his best to prove that he is here for her and his family. He is controlling his anger and trust issues. On the other hand, I didn't like Tinley. I tried. I tried to reason with myself that she was hurt, she was young, she was facing a big change and she did whatever she had to do. But that doesn't justify the lies she used. And now she isn't even ready to give him a chance. She is so scared and insecure that her first reaction is always lash out and push Ignacio away. Even if that means hurting Ignacio and her loved ones. Her unnecessary stubbornness and reluctance to see reason was getting on my nerves. Her change of heart came pretty abruptly and felt to be under pressure. I do admire her strength and I feel sad for all the hardship she had to endure constantly. They have good chemistry and they do deserve the happily ever after. Overall, Truth Be Told by Marie James was an emotional romance. Full of hope and love. I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

  • More please!

Tinley and Ignacio's story was amazing. Full of all the feels. I normally love the heroine's in books but I could not decide if I wanted to love or hate Tinley. In the long run she redeemed herself. Ig is an amazing hero in this book. I hope to see more of this couple in the coming books. On a side note Puff Daddy is hilarious, but I hate Tinley's brother. Another amazing story done by the talented Marie James.

  • Second Chance/Slow-Burn Romance

Truth Be Told is a second-chance romance. This is different from her usual suspense and action books in this series. It was a bit of a slow burn romance. It is the story of Ignacio and Tinley. I had been anxiously awaiting their love story. Ignacio broke Tinley's heart when they were teenagers and left her, making sure that she didn't try to look for him. He was trying to do the honorable thing and only wanted her to get out of poverty and make a life for herself that he didn't think he could provide. The only problem is, is that he left behind a piece of himself that she could never forget. Thirteen years later, he reappears on her doorstep. She is not so ready to forgive and forget though, and there is also a secret she has kept. There were times I wanted to shake both of these characters. Although Ignacio has the best intentions and is trying to protect Tinley, it falls short. Tinley was hard to connect with even though she was strong and endured a lot in her young life. She was beyond stubborn about forgiving Ignacio, lies, and then all of a sudden, she has a change of heart and forgives him. It was a bit frustrating and seemed too sudden. I enjoyed the end although it seemed rushed and felt like there were still some things left unfinished. I did like the chemistry between them though and was happy to see them get their HEA. This is very different from the other books in the Blackridge Security series. I loved seeing the guys band together to help Ignacio. Although I struggled with parts of this book, I did like the overall message of forgiveness and healing. ***ARC for an unbiased review.***

  • Yes please

ARC Provided for a honest review.. Marie has done it again.. I love the Blackbridge Security men.. Oh and that foul mouthed Bird Puff Daddy... OMG I loved Ignacio and Tinley!! I will say I was somewhat unhappy with Tinely for a while.. I mean I understand why she did what she did because she was under certain assumptions.. but she should have still tried.. Ignacio was just WOW!! I mean HELLO.. After having to return to his home town when he finds his grandfather has had a stoke and is in the hospital.. and not expecting to make it.. he runs into his past.. and gets one hell of a surprise.. by the name of Alex.. Both Ignacio and Tinely have been thru alot in there years.. There is a lot of heartache and turmoil.. but the growth and love these two share.. I loved that Marie didnt rush the story between these two.. they both had to work for it. I loved that Ig showed both Tinely and Alex the he was not going to go anywhere.. he was in it for the long haul.. Phenominal job as always marie.. I sooooo can not wait for the rest of our blackbridge boys.. and that dirty bird!!
