For a romance it was amazing

I usually don't read romance, but this book was recomended to me by a friend. I expected to find nothing but one sex scene after another, because I thought that's what modern romance books are, written porn. Instead I found a story so realistic, I was amazed. Sure there were sex scenes, but only a hand full, and well written. I work in mental health care, and know how contradicting and confusing the thought process of a woman that has been emotionally abused can be. The author brought that out wonderfully, the trust issues, the fears, but her character was one of only a few to find in real life, she was also strong. The characters had substance and depth, and that the author gave the main character Sara an anchor, a reason to never fully give up, was wonderful. It was captivating to see how Sara slowly opened up to Benjamin, first considering friendship again, then having to accept that she loved him, and finally her breakdown. As mean as it sounds or reads, the author is right that sometimes it takes an extreme mental shock for those victims to loose their hold on the walls they errected to protect themselves. The author showed this so intens, it was overwhelming. It's defenetly a book I will recomend to many in my field and anyone else who likes romance books that are more then just sex

So much better then the first version

I read the first version, and was greatly disapointed, besides spelling and grammer which I don't care about, the characters where flat and the key-scenes skeletal. It read like a draft, and one that wasn't looked over more then once. This on the other hand, oh my God, If it was the editor or the author, I don't care, but the story has deep characters now, with a history and a goal, I could feel the pain, fear and exitment, but most of all, the conflict in the main characters. Loved it, yet I only gave four stars because she killed the dog. Poor thing, hated to read that part, I love dogs, how could she kill him.
