    Fun, heat, and puns

Whiskey Business was a fun little read that I ended up finishing in a day because it flowed well and kept me interested and entertained. Avon Gale is great at inserting humor throughout her books, and this novella centered around a quirky town built on a special whiskey recipe was full of silliness. I liked how Miss Gale played up the small town oddities without poking fun at it. It reminded me a little of the craziness of Star's Hollow in Gilmore Girls. She made the town endearing and some place I would want to visit. I absolutely loved the puns. They were both groan and laugh at loud worthy, and the sarcastic banter kept the dialogue light throughout the book. The sexy scenes were nice and steamy, and the romance sweet with just the right amount of angst to drive the story and conflict. I found the main characters likable and enjoyed how Ryder and Adam fit together and played off each other. The secondary characters were unique and added to the fun of the story. There was a little bit of that me vs you vibe, which is always a fun addition to a romance. Though the characters were not fully developed due to the length of the book, I wasn't left wanting at the end. The pacing is rapid, as expected in a shorter book, but it is done well and there aren't random gaps in time and doesn't feel rushed. I think this would be the perfect weekend or pick-me-up read. *eARC provided by Dreamspinner Press for Alpha Book Club. This review was not influenced by the publisher or author*
