Writing like this is why I love reading

Author Daryl Wood Gerber has started off my Christmas season right with this murderous holiday themed tale. I know when I have a new Cookbook Nook Mystery to set aside a day where I can read the book from beginning to end. Seriously, I want no interruptions. With WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES I have set a new record for finishing a book in one setting. I even went back and reread my favorite parts! There was more than one story happening in WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES. The question is, are they all connected? (What? I’m not telling you!) There were so many plot twists, each one was like opening another gift. And trust me, that made for a lot of unwrapping. But the author unraveled the tangled ribbon of clues and deceptions and delivered a reveal that I never would have guessed! I love every minute I get to spend with Jenna and friends. I always feel like I’ve come home. The way author Gerber writes this series, I can hear the character’s voices as I read and envision every detail. I truly I feel as though I have walked every square inch of the Cookbook Nook, and every mile of Crystal Cove. Writing like this is what made me the reader I am. There is one more important ingredient of book. Recipes! Over a dozen wonderful, mouthwatering recipes! Daryl Wood Gerber had outdone herself with WREATH BETWEEN THE LINES!

The characters are fun, quirky, and entertaining

Wreath Between the Lines is a cozy, amateur sleuth mystery. The seventh in the Cookbook Nook Mystery and my first by this author, I found the story easy to catch up on and to follow along with. The characters are fun, quirky, and entertaining. When Cookbook Nook owner, Jenna Hart's sister comes home for the holidays, she wants Jenna to find out what her husband is hiding from her. Then Jenna's friend, Jake finds his old friend murdered in his kitchen and it looks like Jake may have been the target. Jenna starts asking questions and multiple suspects crawl out of the woodwork. The story keeps you guessing and even when you think you have the killer nailed down, the motive throws you for a loop. A good amateur sleuth mystery, Wreath Between the Lines made me want to read the whole series. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

    Excellent holiday cozy

I've stated many times in the past that I love the work of Daryl Wood Gerber no matter what pen name she writes under. This, however, was my first time reading anything from her Cookbook Nook series and I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I wasn't just jumping into the series a few books in, this book is number 7 in the series. So, how does that play out as an intro to the series? Surprisingly well, actually. There wasn't a bunch of introductions to people with spoiler-ish mentions of how they came to be in the main character's (Jenna Hart) life. I could just as easily have been reading the very first book in the series the way everything was written. Even still, the world was fabulously written and well-developed. The characters were realistic and situations made for believable character development. All in all, I have to say that this was definitely a series that I'm glad to finally find myself involved in. Thank you to Beyond the Page Publishing, NetGalley, and Daryl Wood Gerber for the opportunity to read this delightful book and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

I love Jenna and the gang.

I just love Jenna and the gang. Jenna's sister comes for a visit with her husband and daughter. While she is spending time with her niece, Jenna's family friend, Jake, comes to get her because his friend has been murdered. Jenna is pretty sure that the intended victim was really Jake and she knows that she has to figure out who the killer is before they strike again. When the killer tries to scare Jenna off of the investigation, she knows she is out of time.

    A Great Holiday Mystery!

Jenna Hart is getting her bookshop, the Cookbook Nook, prepared for the Christmas holidays. When her sister visits with her family, Jenna finds her sister’s marriage is troubled. Her sister’s husband has a secret that may damage his marriage forever. Then, her neighbor, Jake, came to her for help when he finds his friend dead and strung up in Christmas lights. Can Jenna unravel the truth before something else happens to destroy the Holidays? This is one of my favorite authors of cozy mysteries. And, this is a great installment to the Cookbook Nook series. Jenna is a very likeable character who uses her wit and intelligence to figure things out. I liked that she was able to work with the police, and not hide her investigation. I love her quirky aunt who gives the mystery a little humor, and some needed insight. The plot kept me confused until the end. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.
