    Heated Mating

Copy provided through Netgalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review. I am a fan of Katie Reus' Red Stone Security Series, along with its spinoff Serafina Series, and was excited to read one of her "hotter" short stories under the pen name Savannah Stuart. It didn't disappoint. Heated Mating was originally released in 2011, re-released in 2014 and it's follow-up, Claiming Her Warriors, was released in 2013. It takes place on the planet Lumineta in the year 2235, when all men are trained to be warriors and outnumber women 2:1. Saroya and others were rescued from her dying earthlike planet by a group of Luminet warriors who then took them back to Luminata. Because of the shortage of women there, m/f/m matings are encouraged. Unfamiliar with the customs, Saroya immediately mates with Gage on the way back. She is introduced to his brother, Linc, upon their return, but Linc seems distant and tends to avoid her, so their part of the mating is never consummated. The book actually begins at Gage's funeral, though his death is never explained. Linc fell immediately for Saroya, but unlike with other women, he knew he couldn't share her, not even with his brother. After Gage's death Linc leaves for the six month mourning period. He intends to claim her upon his return, but his past behavior is perceived by Saroya as rejection. Then everything he does after his return just compounds those perceptions. Because unlike Gage, Linc is 100% warrior, and he doesn't have a clue how to communicate with her. And Saroya has decided she can't continue to live with a man who can't stand to be around her.
