The mirror doesn't always show you what people see

I read Pursuing Lord Pascal in one day. Each instalment of this series has been something I look forward to. Anna Campbell provides us with a short, sweet and steamy historical romance that packs a punch. We start Pursuing Lord Pascal getting to know our heroine, Amy. Living a life doing what she loves has filled a need, but it has also left her extremely lonely. Her elderly husband passed a couple of years back but Amy never moved on. When visiting with friends and family, the new Dashing Widows come together. Amy, Sally and Amy's sister-in-law Morwenna, decide it's time to enter society again and look to having some fun. Amy sees herself as plain and boring and imagines her friends will struggle to make her look attractive. She's sure she would bore any man to tears with her talk of agricultural innovations. Imagine Amy's surprise when her first outing puts her face to face with her childhood crush and he seems very interested. Gervaise Dacre, Lord Pascal is in need of a wife. Unfortunately, the silly twits he has met so far are leading him to despair. Then, all of a sudden, the air swirled with unmistakable magic (no, this is not a fairytale) and Pascal sees a vision walk into his life. He wants to meet her...he needs to have her. For the first time in his life, Pascal, the most beautiful man in London, is going to have to work for what he wants. The journey for Amy and Pascal is far from smooth. There are secrets, insecurities, doubts and reservations. Will Pascal be able to convince Amy that he's more than a pretty face? Has his reputation tarnished his chances of finding a happy ever after? The people around Amy seem to be distracted by the pretty dresses and not see her boring, country girl ways. Can Amy learn to trust the feelings developing between herself and Pascal? Again, I find myself getting the historical romance fix I crave in a little package of goodness. I know with these short stories that I will get everything I adore about stepping back in time. I definitely want more and can't wait to see the other Dashing Widows find their own happiness.

    The saga continues!

Another fantastic addition to the Dashing Widows series! Amy Mowbry is a sensible farm girl, an agricultural genius, and a widow who's been hiding behind her experiments. All of that's about to change... enter the dashing widows stage 2! That's right, three more widows are inspired by the original trio to make the same pact and continue the saga! Perusing Lord Pascal is Amy's story. She's quite reluctant to leave behind her mourning garb for the glitter of society. Then she sees Pascal, a man who she's been infatuated with since before her first season. Pascal has a notorious reputation with the ladies, but he's decided that it's time to settle down. He comes to town with the hope of finding a wife who will benefit him financially, as his estate is near bankruptcy, but he finds that all his options are giggly twittering teens. He's just about to call it quits when he sees the beautiful Amy. He's instantly smitten and knows her reputation for wealth and ingenuity. She's exactly who he needs to wife! Let the games begin!

    Can't get enough.

Another firm favourite, anticipating a happy ending. Thrills and spills, all vital for a great Recency novel.

A wonderful couple and a fantastic story!

Pursuing Lord Pascal is the fourth book in the Dashing Widows series by Anna Campbell. This series originally was of three young widows just out of mourning who decide to have some fun... fortunately for those of us who have loved this series, Anna Campbell decided to continue on with three more widows and a jilted suitor from one of the previous books. Sometimes it was no fun to be London’s handsomest man.... Gervaise Dacre, Earl Pascal needs to marry into money quickly to save his estate. But unfortunately none of the pretty airheaded debutantes of this season have caught his eye. Amy, Lady Mowbray is the youngest sister of Silas (Book 1) & Helena (Book 3). Amy married at 18 to a man 40 years older than her. Amy's marriage was not of love but of friendship and she honestly has never been in love - except for a violent fit of puppy love for Lord Pascal when she was 14.... Amy and Gervaise were such great characters that I immediately liked them! Poor Gervaise, after being used to having women chase him it was new for him to finally want a woman who might possibly not want him. Amy struggles to believe that this handsome man could want someone like her. Their courtship was a joy to watch and what a refreshing change that our hero actually fell for the heroine first. I enjoyed how Amy made Gervaise actually court her and realize that she was worth the effort. As for Gervaise he was much more than just a handsome rake and I truly loved Amy for seeing the real man beneath the mask. What a wonderful couple and another fantastic story to add to this series!
