    Loved it!

Anxious to travel by horse to Canada with her 12 year old son, Rachel sets out on her own to find her brother. She is leaving behind a late husband whose addictions caused anything but a happy life. No longer trusting she refuses to travel with some men who are going in the same path as she had planned. But things change as a close call with a bear, makes Rachel realize that there is safety in numbers. I loved this book. Exciting from page one till the end. I have enjoyed the whole wonderful series by this author. You will not be able to put it down. I did find myself a bit frustrated with Rachel in refusing help so often. But that was the type of woman she was. The book shares a story of faith, trust and the importance on relying and trusting in God. Really loved how the story proceeded, the characters and that the author can really create a wonderful read. Highly recommended. I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

    Fantastic!

I LOVED this addition to the "Heart of the Mountains" series! Seth and Rachel's story was so intense and engrossing. I loved the dynamics and the emotional charge within these pages. The adventure along the journey tests the characters and keeps them on their toes, while at the same time teaching them that trust and change are not always impossible or bad. I loved the setting, descriptions, and the way the secondary characters lent an added layer of depth to the story. "This Homeward Journey" is an excellent addition to this series and one of my favorites so far! Ms. Beller is an AMAZING author and I just can't seem to get enough of her writing! I hope she continues dreaming up new stories and look forward to reading them for a long time to come!

    Captivating story

This Homeward Journey is the fifth book in the Heart of the Mountains series by Misty M. Beller and it is a good read. It is a beautiful and captivating story of unexpected love, the importance of learning to trust one's heart again. The writing style is graceful and flows smoothly as the author tells the story of a widow alone with her young son traveling through the Montana territory to the Canadian mountains during the mid-1860s to find her brother and hopefully make a new life. (When I read stories of travel, especially over mountains and areas fraught with dangers, I am amazed at how people survived and thrived--makes me wonder how I would respond and if I could be as brave.) The further she goes into this new life ahead, buried dreams seem to come alive. Will Rachel dare to follow them? And what about Seth, a man who may not be dangerous but he sure causes a ruckus with her emotions. Can she trust him? Will she be able to give him her heart? Strong and riveting characters are likable and readers are drawn quickly into their and their stories. And they each definitely have a past story that is driving life in the present. The author has infused the story with lots of nail-biting action--marauding bears, menacing rattlesnakes, and malicious kidnappers all keep the pages turning. Realistic situations and wonderfully descriptive scenes all work together for a delightful story and threaded throughout the book is a faith in God--the God who guides us in the right way and who alone can fix situations that we are not able to fix. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Beller's books. I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.

    Learning to Trust

It's 1866 and folks are still heading west to find their future in a land less populated. Rachel and Andy, her son, are no different, or are they...? With memories that would put most people into a state of perpetual anxiety, Rachel heads for her brother's place somewhere in Canada requiring her to travel through the mountains. With a huge dose of strength and basically no trust, they set out. Burns, rattlesnakes and kidnapping are only a few of the situations they are confronted with. Is it even possible they will find their way safely? I received this incredible story through CelebrateLit. All impressions and opinions are my own.
