Lush world of Nova is so stunningly vivid!

I read The Alchemists of Loom and The Dragons of Nova back to back. The Alchemists of Loom did an incredible job building the world and developing the characters. The Dragons of Nova just soared. Nova was vivid and Lush. I wanted to stay their far beyond the pages. Ari and Cvareh were definitely my favorite characters and things definitely heat up between these two. Definitely love the play on loving someone for more then just attraction and it being on a deeper level. Attraction is important but that is superficial. I was not a big fan of Flor in book 1 but I did come to like her in book 2. I think she starts to discover herself instead of living her life for Ari. If you read The Alchemists of Loom and thought there might have been a touch of something missing then do not stop because I promise you that book 2 has it. The Dragons of Nova has so much more action, swoon, twists and the lush world of Nova is so stunningly vivid!

Elise outdid herself with this book.

This will be as non-spoiler as I can possibly make it. I'm not going to rehash the entire plot. You've got the synopsis right up there, so this will most likely just be my final reactions. Firstly, unless you have read the first book, you will be lost. Second, The Dragons of Nova picks up where TAoL leaves off. Both Ari and Cvareh in Nova. Elise outdid herself with this book. Everything about the Loom/Nova world is fantastic. Each character brings something to the story. There were a few twists that totally threw me off the trail, but they were really good twists. Major Kova's writing is phenomenal. She puts a lot of hard work and effort into her books. There is no way this book could be any better if someone else had written it. Unfathomable. ***DISCLAIMER: I did request an ARC of this book from Key Master Press for honest review, but also bought myself a copy of the book. Thank you so much to the publisher and to Elise Kova for this opportunity!***

i love elise kova's writing style

surprisingly, i was a little disappointed by this book. i really enjoyed the alchemists of loom, the world building and character development was amazing. however, the dragons of nova lacked that. there was a lot of character/chapter changes which made it hard to connect with the characters and really get into the story. it was as if i was reading the book but i didn’t get into it. it’s really weird because i usually love all of elise kova’s works. my biggest issue with the dragons of nova was definitely the chapter/pov changes. there were some characters that i couldn’t remember from the first book, some that i didn’t even like, and others where the storyline was just plain boring. i’m really not a fan of books with too many main characters. like, 2 or 3 is good, or stay first person so the reader doesn’t get confused. i absolutely loved the friendship between florence and arianna during the alchemists of loom, however we don’t get any of that whatsoever in the dragons of nova. definitely a big disappointment. also, i didn’t connect with florence as much as i had in the first book. maybe it’s a reading slump, maybe it’s the book. who knows. although i loved the alchemists of loom, i don’t think i’ll like the rest of this series if it’s going to be written like the dragons of nova was. it was a little too confusing and slow for my liking, but i’ve heard many good things about it. i wish i could’ve liked this book more as it was one of my most anticipated books.

A book as lush and enthralling as it's cover

A very strong entry to the series, Dragons of Nova turns everything up. The stakes are higher as the political tensions of one world's near civil war brings it ever closer to a brewing rebellion from the world below it. And when people like the dragons do their political maneuvering by dueling to the death, every claw swipe keeps you reading faster and faster. While midpoints in trilogies can often feel like a weak bridge between the beginning and the climax, Kova manages to escalate the action and intrigue in a way that keeps the reader turning each page while holding their breath. None of this is done at the sacrifice of setting as we learn so much more about the titular dragons and their Nova and even the lower world of Loom. The exploration and expansion of the lore opened up a new level of understanding and appreciation, not only for the setting, but also the characters motives. This book doesn't just bridge, it builds. I'm not ashamed to say I was surprised quite often by this book, and it's nail biting ending has me itching for the finale.

    Exceeds High Expectations

The Alchemists of Loom introduced a battle of wills, a burning ember of a revolution. Now, in The Dragons of Nova, that ember steadily becomes a flame as the players take their places on the board. The romance element between Cvareh and Ari is so bittersweet. Both are burdened with so much - the fate of Loom is practically sitting on Ari's shoulders, whilst the future of Cvareh's Court is under constant threat. Despite literally being from different worlds, these two are so, so alike. Elise Kova highlights their shared fire, their tenacity and drive. Two warriors, drawn together in spite of the odds stacked against them. The Dragons of Nova met my expectations...and then exceeded them. There were so many perfectly executed twists and turns - a build up of tensions worthy of a Game of Thrones episode! The last few chapters had me glued to each page, holding my breath, and praying that my much-adored cast of characters was going to survive. I could never have guessed the book's epic ending or how devastated it would leave me! A million Kudos to Elise Kova for raising the stakes and setting the stage for an amazing Book #3.
