    Loved It

Admittedly, I did buy this book rather spontaneously, but I’m happy to report that I feel not one shred of regret. Loved the premise; loved the characters, their evolution, their depths; loved all, save it’s inevitable end, but only because it came too soon.

    Emotionally Moving

The depth of this book is amazing and it gets the reader to evaluate the way we look at things surrounding us. Everyone suffers their own problems and we can never see or know the entire backgroud and expriences that someone has been through. A favourite quote of mine says "we all lack good mirrors, it is so hard for us to show anyone how we feel, and so hard for us to see what others see". We are all so quick to pick faults with others surrounding us and in a way that is just showing us a fault of our own. I loved all the characters and thing Brigid did an amazing job of seeing life through their eyes. I loved Jules and Declan but i would love Rev to be a main character in another book, i want to see him have his own happy ending or just a brighter path. I feel Brigid did an amazing job of the 2 teachers. Occassionally children are lucky enough to have teachers that do more than just spout words but are there to listen and help children develop - even though the characters in this book are ya. What still slightly intrigues me is the background to Declan's dad, we saw the depth of the other characters, so I wonder about how Declan's dad started on the path which ended him prison. The angst between Jules and Declan was amazing. I also loved that the book ended and Brigid didn't try and make it all a happy ending because life has all the unexpected twists and turns, and in this way it kept the book real and poignant.

full of emotions and grief, but also so much hope

This is going to be one of my most precious reads this year, full of emotions and grief, but also so much hope. Hope that it’s not one day or one incident defining your life. There is always some way to make things better, to find a way back to setting your life on the right path. And it shows how important it is to talk about what’s going on inside of a person. Reading this book brought on so many feelings and thoughts that I had to stop reading a few times, just t take a breath and dry away some tears. The story felt so real and I got really involved in everything happening that it took me a moment to realize that I reached the end of the book. I wanted to know more, wanted to stay with Juliet and Declin for longer. Wanted to see Declin get more confidence and start believing in a new future. Wanted to hear Juliet say that she is just as good as her mom. If a book can draw you in, doesn’t let you go and makes you think about your own life, than it’s a book worth reading. “Letters to the Lost” is this kind of book and it hopefully gets read by many, many readers. Five stars, two thumbs up and a READ IT! from me. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing!

    Letters to the lost

Another awesome read. Brigid really captured how hard communication can be when we are emotionally hurting and feel guilty. Adults, kids and parents and how in our own turmoil we can hurt others.
