Perfect with a Baileys and a mince pie!

Guess what? It's snowing! So wrap up in your warmest winter scarf, cosy in, and get ready for a wonderful couple of hours...because this festive read has it all. Think Christmas, weddings, romance, happy times, and sad times... Debbie Johnson's perfectly crafted writing makes for effortless reading, her characters leap off the page and pull you into the story, and once I started I couldn't put it down. Constantly entertaining, witty, warm hearted and funny, I especially love this book because woven in with the Christmas magic there are deeper, poignant moments. There are parts that will make you laugh out loud, while other bits will have you reaching for the tissues. As well as the Christmas jumpers, I also enjoyed the sewing details, the fabulous backdrop of Oxford, and the nitty gritty, down-to-earth feel that Debbie Johnson does so well. Why not treat yourself? Perfect with a Baileys and a mince pie!

Oh wow, I had so much with this book!

Oh wow, I had so much fun reading this quick British romantic comedy! Before delving into what I loved about the actual story I must first state that I absolutely adored the cover; it in itself screams "I am a cozy book. Read me this winter." "Never Kiss A Man in A Christmas Jumper" was a delightfully cozy romance to hunker down with this winter season. The plot, while predicable, was the perfect Christmas story about two people trying to find happiness but on a deeper level this book was also about our hermit-like heroine Maggie having to dig into her past to discover that life didn't end when she became a teen mom. I believe that under the guise of light romance the author explored some very real issues that might plague women who want to experience dating after having a child; expertly entwined with comedic moments. The characters in this book were absolutely perfect and I adored each and every one for their personalities and individual struggles. I was particularly fond of Maggie, a single mom with a teenaged daughter. She just came across as very real; I believe that readers can't help but be drawn into her struggle and to feel sympathy for her. As someone who has never read Debbie Johnson's work before, I can safely admit that I have found a new favourite author. I cannot wait to dive headfirst into her other books (already loaded on my kindle). In conclusion, if you are looking for a fun and seasonal romantic comedy to read I would highly recommend giving this book a try.

    Charming English holiday romance

A charming holiday romance set in Oxford. Maggie is a single mum to a teenage daughter and owns her own wedding dress business. Aged 34, she is starting to feel a bit superfluous as her daughter spreads her wings and her father has his own busy social life. The book opens with a bicycle crash in the centre of Oxford between Maggie and an American that she has christened The Hot Papa From The Park and The Man With The Tux based on their two previous meetings. When the American, Marco Cavelli, turns out to have a broken leg as a result of their encounter Maggie is guilted into letting him stay with her until he becomes more mobile. As the snow settles around the picturesque streets of Oxford and Maggie gets ready to attend three very different weddings in the run up to Christmas she and Marco fall in love. Definitely a sweet romance, but not sickly sweet, with partying OAPs, drunken teenagers and masses of wedding cake. Loved it.
