    A spectacular work of fiction

You should read this book. It is not without faults - the ending wasn't what I personally had hoped for, and there is a tendency to veer in to pretension (for example, several of the main characters summarily mock another who can't pronounce 'Proust'). But neither of these thing change the fact that this book is a game-changer, a book that will win prizes, that people will talk about for years to come. It's really, really special. I laughed, I wept, and I lived with the characters, and I recommend it heartily.

    Heavy Stuff

I started reading this book in anticipation of it being a tale of the lives of four young men and their New York experiences as they get older. I was not prepared for the graphic descriptions of self harm and other unpleasant experiences of the central character Jude. I found this almost unremittingly upsetting and depressing. While I can appreciate that Hanya Yanagihara is an impressive writer of huge potential, reading this novel is certainly not an uplifting experience, and I wish that the publishers were more clear regarding what the subject matter was on the cover.

    Little life

Oh, what a beautifully written book. I felt I was part of this story and fully immersed myself. So heart rendering, I could not stop crying, I wanted to reach out and help them both.

    A little life

Big book and harrowing in parts, deals with issues such as child abuse and self harm . Don't be daunted by the size of the content of this book . It's a tough read but a book that makes you think, really moving in parts
