  • Loved! Can't wait for the next one.

Having not read Dark Shores I wasn't sure what to expect, but I loved this book! I didn't feel lost at all. It does start off a little slowly with a lot of Lydia's world, but with reading from both Lydia and Killian's POV's all I wanted was for them to meet! Lydia and Killian are both strong lead characters, who have personal struggles and totally valid reasons to be super nasty people, but they just aren't. They're both just trying to do the right thing. The other characters, however? There is a lot of plotting and you never know who is truly trustworthy. I loved this story, but that ending?! I am sad to have to wait for the next one! I can't wait to see how everything plays out.

  • Rated 4.5 Stars

Dark Skies was amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I loved it. I loved the tension that kept me anticipating what would happen next, the tension between the characters, both main and secondary, the sexual tension between the main characters, it all worked for me. I loved how the story was woven. There were twists, turns, betrayal, lies and so much more. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book I have a feeling it's going to be amazing. I very highly recommend this book, series and author.

  • A Sweeping Adventure, Not To Be Missed!

Every once in a while, a book comes out of the blue and completely consumes me. It takes a rare, powerful story to literally stay in my thoughts months after I've read it. DARK SKIES is one of those books. I was extremely fortunate to read an early copy, and while I was anticipating an adventure, I was not prepared for everything that came with it. This is an excellent foil for the events in DARK SHORES, which can be read before or after SKIES. We see more of the world and lore crafted by Danielle L. Jensen, and are introduced to two of my most favourite characters ever written. Lydia is an absolute treasure. She is thrown completely out of her element––a wealthy girl with a big heart who finds herself in a new world and has to fight and grow as a person. She is smart, resourceful, kind, and has some truly enthralling moments. An unlikely heroine, Lydia captured my heart and I am eagerly awaiting her next adventures. And Killian... I could go on for days about Killian. He is strong, charming, and driven by honour. In combat, he is an absolute beast. He is willing to help any and everyone, and that big heart of his leads to some truly gripping moments throughout. The dialogue and banter between Killian and Lydia helped make this book for me. Their sweet, slow burn romance had me quickly turning pages. Yet as much as I adore them both separate and together, the side characters are equally as engaging. Malahi is fascinating, and every time Jensen introduces a villain, they make me recoil. The story is packed with twists, turns, surprises, nail-biting scenes, and wild action. I have recommended this book to everyone I know of, and will continue to do so because it is a true, gem. A must read for anyone who loves adventure, magic, and charming lead characters. It was one of the best books I read in 2019, and it will be the best book I read in 2020 because I need to read it again. For reference, I RARELY re-read books. And this one... this one is a must. I did not imagine to fall so completely in love with it, and yet I have. A must read for everyone, and not to be missed.
