  • Funny and fabulous!

What an honest and refreshing look at motherhood and the trials and tribulations that come with a new baby! I’m now going to add side-splitting funny as another major positive. ‘Did My Love Life Shrink in the Wash?’ is both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measures. I particularly loved Beth’s friendship with Paddy, the mature next-door-neighbour. I enjoyed how they confided and leaned on each other for support. In fact, this book really was all about the relationships. I found myself caring about all of the key characters. The sisters were fab and their interactions with Beth were full of giggles and wit. Another relationship I have to mention is that between Yasmin the model and Beth. I really didn’t expect that one to play out the way it did but it was oh so satisfying. You’ll have to read it to find out why. Okay, now I’ll head to what I felt was the main theme in this book - coming to terms with having a new baby in your life. This was handled expertly. Although my daughter is all grown up, I could relate - big time! Every insecurity that Kristen brought up was totally relatable. I will also applaud how body positive this book is. I loved how the sisters could laugh and celebrate their changed bodies together. Bravo for doing that so brilliantly. To sum up, this will have you doubled over in chuckles and you might even shed a tear. It’s a spot-on read for this time of the year too. I thought it was brill!

  • An honest look at motherhood

3.75 Stars C/W: Mentions of cheating and drug use I loved Beth (especially the way her voice came through) and thought this was an incredibly honest look at motherhood. Beth's entire family were really interesting to read about as well and I am really excited to get my hands on the other Callaghan Sisters books. I guess that I wasn't really the target audience for this book, although I usually do enjoy stories like this. I didn't think this book was funny (as marketed), but rather a shocking, seemingly honest and very rarely talked about, look at what it's like to be a first-time parent. I do think that there is an audience out there who will adore Beth's story. It really does read well. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me a free e-arc of "Did My Love Life Shrink in the Wash?" by Kristen Bailey, in exchange for an honest review.

  • Makes You Laugh and Cry!

I fell in love with this author's writing and characters in 'Can I Give My Husband Back?' and was so glad to see that 'Did My Love Life Shrink in the Wash' continues with the Callaghan sisters. This time it's Beth's story. Beth comes across as a sweet and quirky Mom struggling to keep it together with a new baby. If having an unexpected baby wasn't enough for her to handle, her partner, Will, does a runner. How does she cope with him not around? Then baby Joe is scouted to be a model for a young rapper and life takes a turn. Once again, the loving band of sisters close rank to protect Beth. In addition to the family, there's a lovely cast of characters in Beth's friends and new acquaintances! Kristen Bailey surely knows how to make one laugh and cry and remember her characters long after reading her books!

  • Family Life

With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the digital arc all opinions expressed here are my own. Did My Love Life Shrink In The Wash? By Kristen Bailey was the first book I have read by this author. It is book three in the Callaghan sisters series (there are five sisters) but easily read as a stand-alone. This book is about Beth, her partner of eight years Will and a year in the life of their new baby Joe. This book was an easy read, but honestly not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. As a Mum of three, I should fit the intended demographic, but while I enjoyed some of the character relationships, like Paddy the elderly neighbour, I mostly just felt the book was exhausting and honestly kept getting confused with so many sisters in the picture. Hopefully others enjoy the book more than me. 3 stars.

  • Slapstick Comedy at times

I found this book to have humorous moments and I could relate to Beth and the no sleeping! My first child had colic and my husband was military and gone the first five months of his life. The book was written more about being alone and raising a child as a single woman. I didn’t find this to be that comical and the drinking episodes was actually not that funny either. I think the author lost the entertainment story somewhere when Will and Beth got pregnant. I think the storyline could have been a great read if it was a serious issue and expressive. I would hav loved to seen it play out more. However, there are going to be others who will find this slapstick hilarious, but it’s to each ones taste. I have read this other before and I know she writes great comedy, but this would definitely have been a wonderful dramatic book! Just sayin😁
