    Another great installment

First, I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I read a lot of Shannon Mayer’s books—and it’s because I love them. I love the characters she creates. They are genuine. They aren’t perfect. They make mistakes and they are complicated. But that’s just one reason why I keep reading Mayer’s books. It is often hard to build plausible worlds—especially in fantasy literature. But Mayer is able to do really well. Her universe is not overly complicated and while it is based in magic and the fantastical, it is still believable and logical. In Firestorm, Larkspur’s story picks up where Breakwater left off. Once again she is compelled to help solve a mystery at great personal risk because it is for the greater good. Lark is not unreasonably self-sacrificing. She takes risks because she knows she can help and if she doesn’t the consequences will be much worse—not just for her, but for everyone.

    Great new series

Firestorm The Elemental Series Book 3 Shannon Mayer 5 Bookgasums Each book in this series just gets better and better. For me the character development was slow in the beginning but now I am at that point where I find myself wanting to yell at some of the characters and hug others. I feel there is a complete, full development of the characters, the setting and the story in general. I like how the character names in each ‘family’ comes from the element they embody. I could not wait to see what names Ms Mayer came up with for the Fire family as I was having a hard time trying to figure out fire names. The story pace is steady and action packed with intrigue and a budding romance mixed in. I did not notice any major grammar errors or I am so enthralled by the story I do not even notice them. I cannot wait to find out more of Lark’s story, especially since I know where she will end up in the future. I also want to learn more about the old recluse wolf who has been helping Lark along the way. If you want to find out more, please check out Ms Mayer’s other fantastic series with the Tracker Rylee and her Scooby-Doo like band of friends. You will not be disappointed.

    Lark exceeds expectations!

**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.** ---------------------- This time, Lark takes us into the fiery world of the Pit and all the intrigue it holds. Ordered by her father to face the charges levied against her by the Fire Elementals for having killed several of their Enders, Lark has no choice but to travel to the Pit along with Ash. When she seeks guidance from the Mother Goddess she is also charged with saving those who cannot save themselves while n the Pit. The characters in this series are so developed you can't help but empathize with them as they battle their way through another sticky situation. Another fast-paced, fun read in another highly-imaginative, well-crafted world by Shannon Mayer! I can't wait to read Windburn!

    Swept me away!

This series does things to my heart that only the most amazing series can do. Firestorm was no different, and if it's possible for this series to get better, this is the best one yet. I laughed, stressed, held my breath, and well up with tears. Larkspur's journey takes her and Ash into the Pit this time to be tried for the deaths of the Enders she killed during her quest to find the cure for the lung burrowers raging through The Rim. Queen Fiametta demands their lives in exchange for her Enders', and it seems like a hopeless situation until the mystery surrounded the Pit begins to unfold. More is transpiring in the Pit than just revenge for the supposed deaths no one can prove. Someone is altering the lava to hurt the Salamanders, the spell for sleep is lingering longer, and the Firewyrms are being hunted and exterminated. Lark's sole purpose is to free Ash from the dungeons before he is scheduled for execution, but she's quickly enveloped in a fight for survival that will push her further and harder than she's ever been pushed. Mother Goddess will call on her yet again, but not without a price. One of my favorite characters who made small appearances in Breakwater is Peta. She's a familiar with bad luck attached to her name. She plays so prominently in this series that she is now truly one of my favorites. From housecat to snow leopard, she not only changes forms but finds a change in heart towards the Terralings she's so inclined to despise. She and Larkspur are so well-matched, and watching their relationship evolve was truly wonderful. If you've read Recurve and Breakwater, you absolutely can't put off reading Firestorm!
