    Another Masterpiece

As always, Louise Penny has produced another masterpiece showing all the human frailties but also showing the reverse of love faith trust and the “goodness” that prevails. A gripping novel of the risk that sometimes is required for the appropriate outcome.

    A deeper darker plot

When I first discovered Inspector Gamache, I thought I was encountering another Agatha. Christie type plotter, but time has proved me wrong. I still feel safer knowing that Armand and Rein Marie are on the case, and the other intelligent if skewed inhabitants of Three Pines are hanging out at the bistro, but the depth and scale of the plot has increased tremendously. THANKYOU so much Louise.

    Troubling

The story was confusing and although about Three Pines and the usual characters I did not get the same feelings of familiarity as previous books. Gamache again succeeded but at what cost?

    Moving, fascinating, a little bumpy

Back in Three Pines for the fourth book in a row. This enchanting tale stretches credibility at times as it returns to some of my most beloved fictional characters, particularly Gamache of course ( of white we see a very different side) and the best ‘wise fool’ yet, Ruth. Thanks Louise Penny for this super novel at what must have been the most difficult of times.
