An unexpected gem of a debut sci-fi novel!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was a bit skeptical about reading a debut sci-fi novel, but thought to give it a try after getting to know about the setting. Hypercage is set into a near future of our own where the civilisation is a bit advanced as compared to ours. It is a clever play on our emotions and is a tense dark journey which is equally engaging as well as appealing. It was worth the read, and would recommend others to read it as well. Waiting for the next book in the saga to come out soon.

    Interesting and gripping

Disclaimer: I recieved a free ARC from this author for an honest review. Hypercage is a sci-fi novelette that blew me away. It was very interesting and gripping and takes you right into the action! I'm excited to read more from this author and wait in anticipation.

    Original and Thought-Provoking

Having been one of the lucky recipients of an ARC copy of this debut novella, I was genuinely enthralled from the very beginning. Being a big fan of sci-fi, but not usually seeking out shorter stories, I began this with a touch of skepticism; particularly as I'd never read anything from this author previously. However, given that it was a free copy, simply in exchange for an honest review, I thought why the heck not! I wasn't disappointed. One of the big surprises for me personally was how much plot/character development the author managed to fit into so few pages. By development, I don't mean this in the typical literary sense of gradually getting to know them, more that there's enough in the window that the author provides to get a real feel for the main character and the world in which he resides. There's almost a contemporary-world feel about them too, yet at the same time being surrounded by technology that we are yet to be graced with. These are technological advancements that feel as though they're very realistic achievements too, rather than pie-in-the-sky stuff, so when all of these are combined they very cleverly give you a sense that this could well be somebody that you'd probably know, were you to be born in the not-too-distant future. It feels plausible. That in itself is quite an achievement but intertwined within all of this is some serious action and no small amount of tension. It's a very original and thought-provoking piece of writing, which has simply left me craving more of this character and, in particular, more of this exciting new author. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.
