  • Fun read from start to finish!

Fun story from start to finish! You will be swept away into the eccentric and slightly magical family of the McCreadies and their cat Schubert. Billy McCreadie is a great guy, but with an unusual secret. Lexie has interesting hobbies. Could this be a match made in heaven or hell?! Highly recommend!

  • Another wonderful Kirsty Ferry book featuring Schu

Take a dose of good humour, add magical spells, history & romance and it all adds up to another fantastic Kirsty Ferry novel. Schubert the cat is the real star of this book. Lexie is visiting Edinburgh researching her family tree. She meets Billy who is dressed as a pirate for a talk at his niece’s school. Billy’s sister Nessa was in the previous book in the series. Nessa is a witch who likes to play matchmaker. Lexie & Billy hit it off. Billy helps Lexie find the missing link to her family tree. It turns out that she is related to a Spanish pirate called Luis and a Scottish woman called Mhairi. Mhairi’s ghost is in the local cemetery. It has been disturbed by Billy’s niece Isabel who made a binding spell & put it in a flask of tea to get Lexie & Billy together but accidentally spilled some on Mhairi’s grave.

  • Another success story

I have to say that I think I prefer this series of Kirsty’s out of all of them – I love the little bit of magic and though I am a dog person, Schubert has something about him – Mow wow! Kirsty spoils us with these dual stories too. Billy is a walking tour guide in Edinburgh, and Lexie, a visiting genealogist, attends a couple of his tours – with some attempted magical ‘assistance’ from his niece and Schubert the cat, their fledgling relationship grows, but also becomes more involved. I think it is quite obvious from these comments that I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I read it in one sitting because I couldn’t leave it alone, and can seriously recommend it.

  • Rollicking yarn

This is another fun romance from Kirsty. Although part of a series it is a great read as a standalone book. The meeting of Billy and Lexie is not just the chance it appears to be. As you follow their investigations into the past you get to meet more of Billy's family and some of Lexie's. Oh, and of course Schubert the cat plays an important part. I love Kirsty's books and this is no exception. A rollicking story, good characters, romance and a cat. What more can you ask for? OK, chocolate but you can't have everything!
