    My take

A loose sequel to David Rhodes book Driftless, this book can certainty be read without the other. It is a look at small town Midwest in the current era. It explores a number of themes, a few of which may make some prudes like myself uncomfortable, but while exploring some ideas it leaves the story line open and is totally free of anything explicit or tawdry. When I finished Driftless I felt like I had just peaked in on a small town with an open ended past and present. This novel closed some loops and gave some finality, yet it left room for further exploration. Very pleasant read.
