  • Good read

Miracles in Wild Rose Bay is a wonderful installment in the series. Centered on the relationship between twins, GP, Kate and New York photographer, Tara, the book explores more O’Rourke history as Tara searches for the reasons why their grandfather left the area never to return. The impetus is an old photograph and a farm that has seen better days. Susanne O’Leary paints very descriptive pictures of the area, the farm and her characters. This reader was sad when it ended. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

  • Lighthearted Read, Ireland Countryside, Romance

Photographer Tara O’ Rourke returns to her homeland of Ireland to hunt for idyllic hidden vacation treasure spots for a travel magazine. However, she finds that not everyone is on board to expose these hideaway gems to include her twin sister. Tara and her twin sister Kate who is a local Doctor are usually very close friends and agree on everything. This time they are not synchronized on whether to let the world know about their village and the close amnesties such as hiking and skiing that would be available. Kate is afraid of explosive tourism ruining the homey feel of the village and they already get enough foot traffic to keep the locals busy. Tara discovers other things that could hinder her emotions with her project such as a local gentlemen, Mick. Tara has some issues she will need to resolve because her home and base is New York! This book is a slow start, but it builds to a good read. It’s not a peppy read, but it is a lighthearted read. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

  • A heartwarming story

In my quest this year to expand my exposure to different reading genres outside of psychological thrillers and crime fiction, I took the opportunity to read Miracles in Wild Rose Bay when the offer presented itself. For photographer Tara O’Rouke, her latest assignment for a travel magazine has her leaving behind the hustle and bustle of New York City and travelling to Sandy Cove in her native Ireland. There, she is reunited with her twin sister Kate, who has misgivings of what this might mean for the town and what is bound to be an influx of tourists. But will Tara’s enthusiasm be extinguished when she and Mike, who she has a budding romance with, discover a rundown farmhouse that turns out, holds a long held family secret that she never new existed. The sixth instalment in the Sandy Cove series and which can be read as a standalone, I was taken in by Susanne O’Learys engaging storytelling and was lost in her prose. Each of her characters have been so well created, are relatable and just have you invested in them. A rural coastal town in Ireland, is the perfect backdrop for the story. It is just magical and is described so vividly, my bags were packed in my mind and I just wanted to be there. The setting is a ray of light and the perfect escape to get lost in with how dark the world is at the moment. Miracles in Wild Rose Bay is a beautiful and heartwarming story that captured my heart. A new author to me, Susanne O’Leary is the epitome of the romance genre and is one author I would like to read more from in the future.
