    Very Good Reading

Another exceptional book written by the very talented Nalini Singh. In this book she delves into the mysterious BlackSea changlings and we get a greater insight into how different they are from the Leopards, Wolves and Bears that we already know and love. Well written and worthy of its place in the Psy-Changling world.

This Psy/Changeling/Human world ... this is my ‘ha

I really tried to hoard this ‘precious’ so I could read it while on holiday in Rarotonga lying on some pristine beach come September, that was my big laudable plan ... but I was too weak, I couldn’t even make it 5 days! I figured that at least in Rarotonga I could console myself with sun, surf and fruity cocktails once I finished this much anticipated novel ... instead, what I am left with is one eagerly devoured Nalini Singh novel; one well used electric blanket, half a box of used tissues and a tepid cup of hot chocolate because it’s too cold to leave my bed to rewarm my cocoa. But, no regrets ... well, other than the completion of yet another compelling volume to this addictive universe and no cocktail with which to console my greedy little self (big sigh). It’s the curse of a well crafted story though, you’re always left wanting more, and Singh doesn’t stint on anything when it comes to these novels. You get what you pay for, meaty sized novels that you don’t feel like you have to wade through, but conclude are never really long enough. Romance and family dynamics that both pierce, and warm the heart. Enough spice and heat to satisfy even the most lusty changeling. And enough action and mystery to keep the adrenaline and logic centers of the brain well occupied. This volume focuses on Bowen and Kaia’s story, the 21st novel in this series. One could probably read this and understand the gist of this universe without reading the first 20 novels, but why would you?? Singh gives enough background so that any first time readers will have a good enough understanding of the current status quo in this Psy/Changeling/Human world, but the beauty of these novels is the connections between the characters throughout this triumvirate universe. Even though you are introduced to new characters with each edition in this series, you never lose contact with previous characters ... they always pop up one way or another, and I’ve never felt overwhelmed by the number of characters in this series as a whole. I become more hungry for news or ‘cameo’ appearances from these much loved characters because they are like family, and when you read these novels you can’t help but become invested in the continued stories of these intriguing characters ... that’s why these books are automatic buys for me. I truly love these stories, and I love that Nalini Singh has never let me down, not even one time with this series ... she is a master story weaver and I, like thousands of others, will anxiously wait (probably not so patiently🙁) for the next installment of this fascinating and enthralling universe ... Because really, what is one year in the quest of perfection?? (Let me get back to you after three or four ‘consoling’ cocktails🍸🍸🍸😉)

    Probably my last one

It's been happening for a while, but now I can say I had enough of reading variations of the same stories. I like the world the author has created, but now I really feel like she is on automatic pilot writing these novels. All is very predictable and I don't feel the chemistry between the characters. That's it for me.
