A real page turner - a must read in my opinion

I really could not put this book down and read it in a couple of days at any opportunity I had. Tense moments and twists and turns entwine with wonderful characters, some I loved like Kate and others who I hated with a passion, such as Kate's Fiancé Rob. I really felt for Kate, who following a car accident which proved fatal for a member of her family and life changing for others, has low self esteem due a nasty scar on her face. Starting her new job as a Private Investigator, after a period of recovery, Kate investigates a suspected drug dealer, with the bonus being she gets to work with a gorgeous guy called Ben. There are other characters such as Kate's Mum, who is always full of put downs for Kate, however as the book progresses you get to understand her more and the beauty in Lynda's writing is that she can change your feelings for a character from loathing to caring due to the finer details about a character. I fell a little in love with Ben who was kind, supportive and himself had a sad past but on the other side of the coin was Rob, full of secrets and lies, which slowly unravel throughout the book. I really loved this book, wonderfully well written, fantastic characters, romance, suspense, secrets, it has it all for me and I can't wait to read more from Lynda in the future. Thanks to Choc-Lit for providing me with a review copy of this book in return for an honest review which is completely my own opinion.

Romance and private detective with a twist

I was honoured to be on the Choc lit tasting panel to review this book. My feedback below was sent as part of my review - before it was considered to be published and without details of title or author. Did I enjoy the story? Yes. It was a great read. Two stories in one with a twist I never saw coming. Romance and Private Detective – I loved that. Loved the characters ! Each had their own story and sadness, but beautifully written and detailed. I could relate to Kate’s relationship with her Mum. I have a very similar one with mine and it was very easy to know how Kate felt. I read it all. Left me wanting more. No need to skip pages. Couldn't get enough. Took me away from my busy mind and made be wish I had more time in my day to just read. (Always know when it is a good book by how quickly I read it!) Was the male hero irristable ? Yes... Jack was lovely!! Mmmmmmmmmmm perfect man of my dreams I’d say (if I wasn’t already married) ha ha ..... Cute, handsome, adorable, lovely, romantic – the works ! It was a lovely read. Plenty of drama. A fabulous twist ! Lots of lovely romance, laughter and hope for all. I would have loved Rob’s ending to have been a little different. Brought to justice as he deserved ! A truely brilliant story.

    Well Worth Reading

Our heroine is Kate, who lives with her fiance Rob in the cottage left to her by her grandmother. About a year ago, Kate was hurt in a car accident, in which her twin was left paralysed, and her brother was killed. As the story begins, she is starting a new job as a fledgling private investigator. Rob quickly turns out to be a dubious character (and just wait till the end!), but is superceded by the lovely Ben, her employer’s son, who also has a tragic past. This story flows well, and the plot keeps you interested as it unfolds. I did not find Kate particularly sympathetic, but Ben makes up for that, and her character does improve as the book continues. For me, the book contains some moving sections, and lots of drama, with a most satisfactory ending – and I enjoyed the journey to a quite surprising denouement. Another success for Lynda then, following on from House of Secrets – I look forward to the next!
