Great read for Christmas with this fun story!

The Christmas Swap is a fun story that will get you ready for all the best parts of the holiday season. I loved the different types of Christmases portrayed – a large, boisterous family gathering, a small intimate family celebration, and a Christmas orphans' version. It made me reminisce about the different types of Christmases I've experienced at various points in my life and started preparing me for the holiday season. I also loved the main characters – Chloe, Lucy, and Jules. I think I liked Chloe's spunky, kick-butt attitude the most, but each has qualities that are endearing and qualities that grate on your nerves a bit. I wish there were another book or books out there with stories of the three of them together. I enjoyed them enough to love to see more of them and, more importantly, see them interact. The locales are all so beautiful. I don't know which I think is more beautiful and the perfect Christmas spot. A white Christmas in the Colorado mountains, a festival-filled English Christmas in a quaint village, or a summer Christmas down under – how do you decide? Well, I didn't have to. I was able to experience all three in a day. All locations are beautifully described and incite the wanderlust inside. I wish that all three characters did not instantly find the loves of their lives when they switched locales and holiday experiences. What are the chances of that happening? It would be rare for even one to have that experience, making it difficult to suspend disbelief. I would have loved to see some variety with this part of the plot, and that variety could have taken many, many different forms. Lastly, I loved that, in the story, holiday romance movies were mentioned. That shout out to the type of tale that you would enjoy around the holidays on a particular network made me laugh out loud. This is a beautiful holiday romance that will bring on all the feels for the festivities ahead.

3 friends seek their perfect Christmas🎀

👣Walking in someone else's moccasins: lovely locations, good multiple plots🌏🌎🌍 4.5🌟stars I really liked the three prong plot for this sweet holiday romance. The chances of all three women finding a perfect holiday and romance in their borrowed locations is not particularly realistic, but it's a feel good novel with a festive tone and emphasizing family and friendship. The Melbourne, Colorado and England locations add interest for armchair travelers in an age when intercontinental travel is difficult to forbidden. Author Sandy Barker has hit the right balance between the romance and the holiday components. Neither overwhelms the other. Cozy present opening in front of a Christmas morning fire plays against exhilarating new love. A lovely read😌. Thanks to publishers Harper Collins/One More Chapter and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Perfect book for fans of The Holiday

This story was everything I want is a holiday read; think The Holiday (the 2006 movie), only with life-long best friends! You see Christmas traditions in three different countries, from large family gatherings, to a family you choose celebration to a small village with a charming Christmas festival! It has lighthearted adventure, relatable characters that you love immediately and want to have as your best friends, and love interests to swoon over. Things weren't too complicated or complex, but there was a splash of drama here and there to keep you from getting complacent. The writing was excellent; light and fluffy and would be a wonderful edition to anyone's holiday season. I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐. I received a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

    Enchanting

This book was great. An easy, uplifting, hopeful read in these crazy Covid times. Three best friends, who met as kids while they traveled with their families, decide they each want something different than their normal Christmas this year. They choose to swap houses for the holidays. Between Colorado, London and Melbourne, this was honestly the best way to travel while it’s forbidden to physically traversing across the globe. The descriptions of the surroundings were striking and I found myself googling them so I could feel like I was actually a part of the scene. I had so much fun reading this. It was super cheesy in the best way. I found myself grinning silly and trying to hide it while I read in public. 🙈☺️ The writing flowed really well as we journeyed through the three perspectives. It was like watching a hallmark Christmas movie with a glass of Pinot in hand, smelling the turkey cooking in the oven all day. So cozy. I loved that the characters were introduced at surface level and then became so much more than they seemed. I was totally immersed in their lives and the lives of the secondary characters. Barker wrote these personas effortlessly and their growth throughout the book was enchanting. However, I was a little disappointed that the 3 stories were so similar. Girl travels, girl meets hunky man, girls falls for hunky man, drama of some sort unfolds, Happy Ending. Each drama was different, but I wish the stories were a little more distinct beside the obvious setting. There were also a few body image comments that stood out and had no place here. They didn’t add to the story and could be interpreted negatively. Other than that, this was wonderful. I really enjoyed that Christmas wasn’t the grand finale. That the stories continued past the Christmas events and went more in depth into the budding relationships. I will definitely be recommending this as a warm and fuzzy read for the upcoming season. Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

    Perfect Christmas reading

They first met in Hawaii aged 11. Since then, they’ve been best friends, the May Ladies, Jules in Colorado, Lucy in Oxford and Chloe in Melbourne, This Christmas is going to be so different. They are swapping homes, the perfect solution when Chloes’ parents decide to go away this year, leaving her home alone, apart from her flat mate. Add 3 attractive men, and you have a lovely Christmas tale. This is a lovely read, just what you need to get you into the festive mood; added to that are the 3 very different locations, all so beautifully described that you feel as though you want to experience each one yourself. Perfect comfort reading. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book
