  • A gripping read

The pain of losing a love often drives us to the places that we shared to help us remember. In this case Abby is taking a journey to a place she had only imagined through the stories that the man she loved told her. She has come to his island to find some peace for her and her daughter, but will she find more than she could have ever thought possible? Emma Davies brings the reader an emotional tale set against a stunning backdrop on a remote Scottish island that has been brought to life in such vivid detail, you also feel part of the landscape. Its warmth was definitely what I need needed whilst my hometown is in the middle of a cold winter and another lockdown. It really was the perfect escape. This is a beautifully written tale and just cements even more my love of Emma Davies’ work. I’m a psychological thriller and crime fiction fanatic at heart, but it is surprising how easily her style within this genre has taken up a place in my heart. After finishing her most recent book, I now wait impatiently for the next. The Little Island Secret is a must read for fans of the genre. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, it will stay with you long after reading the final page.

  • Heartwarming

A superbly written and enjoyable book that had me hooked and left me wanting more! The storyline is warm, sad and hopeful, then wraps you in its pages and makes you feel good! Abby and her daughter Beth have a wonderful little book shop, both are searching for happiness and their place in the world. I felt a connection to the characters in this book, they were very relatable with their emotional twists and turns! A powerful heartwarming life story told in the perfect island setting! Thanks so much to Bookouture, NetGalley and especially Emma Davies, a fabulous introduction to your books! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  • Wonderful book

Thank you NetGalley, Emma Davies and Bookouture for the ARC of The Little Island Secret. This is my personal review. Abby is a single mother who owns a bookshop. She lives above the shop with her daughter and together they lead a happy content life. The story has a lot of depth. The story has a friendship based on the love of books that grows when Cam comes to the town Abby lives in. There are lot of things going on in the book and each is so connected it makes for a story that will stay with you long after you have finished the book.

  • Great Read

This was a great beach read, quick and flows easily. Single mom, Abby, learns of a tragedy in both her life and her daughter, Beth. She decides to go to the Scottish island of Kinlossay. There the people welcome her and Beth, but while there she learns that someone close to her, Cam, was not who he said he was. Had some romance, some mystery. Overall and enjoyable read. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

  • Contemporary fiction with a touch of romance

The Little Island Secret is a contemporary women's fiction with a touch of romance. That's the best way to describe this cute story. Abby is a bookstore owner and lives with her daughter above her store. Both are at crossroads in their life and enters Cam who Abby meets through email correspondence. She falls in love with him and what happens after that is a twist in this story. This novel is a cute story of hope and new beginnings in unexpected places. A beautiful summer read.
