    Plays With Your Mind

A tragedy happened many years ago. Eve moved her daughter, Isobel, to an isolated home on the outskirts of town. Isobel is only 7 years old and sadly, she will remain at that age for a long time. Eve has decided to sell their home and move somewhere smaller and less expensive. When the new family arrives, their presence in the house with unearth a dark past that has long been buried. But secrets have a way of coming out of the shadows and into the light ... no matter how terrible they are. This is a hard one for me to review ... at least without spoilers of one kind or another. Suffice to say, what I thought was happening .. wasn't. The people involved weren't who I thought they were. The story premise is a good one ... kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. This is a well-written psychological thriller that will play with your mind .. and characters not easily forgotten. There are no secrets exposed until the very end .. and it's quite volatile. Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this psychological thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

    The Memory

Really enjoyed this. The ending was not what I expected at all and took me completely by surprise. Lucy Dawson never fails to entertain me with her superbly written thrillers.

Keeps you on your toes until the end

Strangely enough, I had to have "faith" that the author would pull this together to make sense if it all. I was not disappointed. Very well written, intriguing characters, rapidly moving story line. Extremely satisfied with the ending.

    Enjoyable Sunday read

Eve and Isobel have lived in Fox Cottage for over 30 years, that all changes one day when suddenly someone actually offers to purchase the down-at-the-heels home. Eve loves fox Cottage but knows she can no longer maintain the home, Isobel, her daughter can't wait to move out. Because there is something in the house, isn't there? Why does Isobel still speak and behave like a little girl at the age of 34, was it the traumatic school incident or has her over-protective mother refused to let her grow up? Or is it the house? Isobel wants to warn the new family, particularly the little girl but it's possible that Isobel is just mentally confused. The sad part for me was that I guessed the major twist about a third into the book - there is a major giveaway. The story was still exciting enough for me to want to see where else it lead. I liked Claire, one of the main characters and that was actually about it - maybe the others weren't meant to be likeable, her husband came across as weak and entitled. An enjoyable Sunday afternoon read. Many thanks to #Netgalley and #Bookouture for the ARC of #TheMemory in exchange for my honest review.
