  • A spiralling twist and turn thriller

What better to listen to whilst tidying my garden for winter, than a twist and turn thriller. 😱 I’m surprised I didn’t cut back the wrong plants. I was so caught up in the revelations that continued to spiral throughout the story! Georgie, the protagonist of The New Wife was a fun character. As the story progressed, she turned into a proper little Miss Marple, wanting to solve the crime all by herself. I realised I was talking to her often, as I wandered around the garden, and telling her what she should and shouldn’t be doing! 🤣 I found The New Wife slow to begin with as we were introduced to all the characters and their backgrounds, however, once we knew their relevance to the story it soon sped up and I was excited to see what the next twist would be and how it would fit into the story. A quick read and listen if you’ve got a few hours to spare and fancy some surprises. I defy anyone to guess the ending. I certainly didn’t! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review an ARC of The New Wife by Sue Watson, read by Tamsin Kennard.

  • Pulls you in from the first page!

Georgie is delighted when her son Sam marries his childhood sweetheart Lauren, the daughter of her best friends Tim and Helen. The wedding will unite both close knit families. But then, only weeks later, Lauren is found dead at the bottom of the staircase in the remote cottage she shares with Sam. He’s soon arrested for her murder and Georgie must confront her son’s possible guilt while also dealing with the fractured relationship with her best friends. She knows she has to solve Lauren’s murder to free Sam. Her investigation leads her on a dark, twisted path to the truth. The New Wife pulls you in from the first page. You won’t be able to put this one down! Georgie’s loneliness and vulnerability make her a sympathetic character. Others are not but the main theme here is that things are not always what they seem. 5 stars, Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sue Watson for this ARC.

  • A riveting read

“You trust her…You shouldn’t… Get in your comfy clothes, grab a glass of wine (ok a bottle!), get yourself comfortable in your favourite reading spot and let yourself become completely immersed in this fabulous read from Sue Watson! I can always count on Watson giving me a gripping and riveting read and once again she has delivered with The New Wife. As the reader, you become part of the narrative as you try to uncover the truth, never sure of who you can trust. Then just when I thought I had it all figured out, which had me buzzing, (or was that the wine…) the rug was quickly pulled out from underneath me divulging a twist I didn’t see coming! Well played Sue Watson, very well played…

  • THE NEW WIFE is my favorite novel by Sue Watson

Sam and Lauren have known each other since nursery school. They are now adults with great jobs and are getting married, which pleases their families. Sam's mom, Georgie, is best friends with Lauren's parents, Helen and Tim. They have always been there for her and supported her being a single mom. And Georgie has always admired their devotion to one another. Several weeks after the wedding, Sam calls his mom and tells her that Lauren is dead. Georgie, being the great mother that she is, rushes to be with her son and sees Lauren lying at the bottom of the stairs in their cottage. There is an investigation into Lauren’s death, and Sam becomes the prime suspect. However Lauren was hiding secrets, and not only her, but her family as well. What really happened to Lauren? Was her death an accident or not? Georgie is doing her own detective work to find out. Sue Watson’s books literally keep getting better and better. THE NEW WIFE is my favorite novel by Sue Watson to date. The author’s vast experience and expertise in the thriller genre shows in her impeccable writing. She really captured my attention from the very beginning. This is not a slow burn book and you will not want to stop reading until you come to the suspenseful conclusion. Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

  • Enjoyed!!!!!

My Review: Sue Watson you are the Queen of Suspense!!!!! This book kept me guessing from the very first page to the very last page. I could not put this one down for the life of me nor did I want to. I had to find out the truth and find out what happened to Sam’s wife Lauren. They were young and newly married but was her fall really an accident. What secrets could the newly married couple be hiding and were they worth dying for? The whole book was Sam’s mother trying to piece together what really happened to her daughter in law. She devoted her whole life to her son and did not want her son to suffer one ounce of pain. She decided she wanted answers so they could all move on from this awful tragedy and put it behind them. As a mother myself I would do the exact same thing. I would never want to see my son hurt so I would do anything and everything in my power to help my son be happy again even if it means playing detective to find the real killer of my son’s wife. Sam’s mother in my opinion was a very relatable character due to this and that’s why I loved her so much. Now let’s talk about that shocking ending. That very last page, wow. I’m still trying to get over it. Every character in this book had secrets and boy they were all big ones. I would love a sequel to this book to find out what happens to everyone. I really got invested in all the characters and want to know if any of them found true happiness in the end. Sue Watson’s books are the best and I can’t wait for her next book. Lastly, the characters, plot, and the ending of this book made this an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend this book and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
