  • Letters fail to convey character

Very disappointed in the use of the epistolary format - the first one of Anne O’Brien’s books I’ve read. The scenes which are related properly were far better at portraying the events, but there were so few of them. I became fascinated by Cicely Neville on a visit to Ray Castle but this book didn’t satisfy my curiosity about her character.

  • Not sure

The whole story was told in letters from one character to another. A bit strange for a historical story. Hard to get into.

  • Totally absorbing

Cecily Neville through good times and bad. Highlights the fragile situation of a Ruler when they are challenged for their crown. Great read.
