    An up-lifting and funny read

This is a wonderful book, it just flows along and takes you with it. It made me laugh and cry and laugh again, especially at the end. That was a little bit of genius! The story follows Connie, a 66 year old mother and wife, who is used as a doormat by her family until one day she decides she's has enough and sets off on an adventure to find herself and work out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. She meets an array of new friends, catches up with old friends and has experiences she's never had before. It was a joy to explore new parts of the UK through Connie's eyes, especially the wilds of Scotland and to be with her on her voyage of discovery. The book is beautifully written and the characters are lovingly drawn to make them come alive. I absolutely loved the ending, that really had me chuckling and I can't wait for the next instalment. Connie is such a lovable character, she's the sort of person you'd want to go on a road trip with! Thanks to Net galley, Bookouture and the author for an ARC copy in return for an honest review

Not as funny as I had hoped

An amusing "Holiday" read. I have issues with books that tell me "They all laughed ...". A good writer doesn't need to tell me something is funny. Too many co-incidental meetings. Too many food, lunch, tea, dinner, drinks interludes. No wonder every character is fat. (perhaps this author has an eating problem?) Enjoyed this as a no-brainer, indeed I bought the other book, but literature this is not: lacks character depth and there is no plot whatsoever. A "Fun" book for the over-sixties who dream of handsome men and impossible lifestyles. Silly but nevertheless enjoyable & mildy entertaining. Not the 'Laugh out loud' that some folk think. Sorry!
