    Unsettling and tense

An unsettling novel. A well thought out and well-written book to engage your interest with an excellent escalation of suspense. There is a sinister thread running through it which had my nerves stretched to breaking point at times. It's a chilling stalker theme mainly directly towards Lizzy Beresford. I thought she was a little careless with her safety in her volatile situation. I couldn't guess who was making her life a misery despite all the red herrings. During the most nerve-wracking part of the book, I was tense, and the dog suddenly jumped on the bed, and he scared the living daylights out of me. Trust issues were an important part of the theme. How extraordinary that hate, resentment, and revenge can grow like cancer for many years until it flares up out of all proportion. An interesting glimpse of mental illness. I thought it ended on a precipice. It wasn't over. I was left wondering if there could ever be genuine forgiveness amongst the sisters. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

    Another Winner

I just finished The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland and she has definitely turned into one of my favorite authors. The book is extremely fast paced and totally absorbing and if you don’t have enough time to read for awhile you should probably postpone it. I thought I had guessed the ending for the first time in my life but then a couple of pages sent the story in a totally different direction and ended on that note. An absolutely great book and I will happily recommend this book to anyone and am sure this will be a runaway success. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book ahead of publishing in exchange for my unbiased review. Five stars.

    A real page turner!

Author Shalini Boland has done it again by giving us another fantastic psychological thriller. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and is a real page turner. Lizzy and Joe live together and she starts getting mysterious letters followed by other weird things that happen to her and then to her estranged sister. When I thought I had it figured out, I found out I was wrong. There are lots of twists and turns in this book and I certainly did not see that ending coming! I liked all the characters except for Joe who is very unlikable right from the start! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a fantastic thriller that you will not want to put down. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    Exciting Read!

THE SILENT SISTER By Shalina Boland Lizzy Bedford has been getting strange notes from a stalker and it’s driving her mad trying to figure out who it is. She finally contacts her estranged sister Emma, hoping to get the answers she is seeking. I enjoyed reading this book because I was completely lost as to who the stalker was. I’m the one who can figure it out from the beginning, and actually thought I had…but I sure was wrong! I felt I knew Lizzy, she was a strong character in the book. She was independent yet could be vulnerable also at times. I believe she didn’t like having to depend on other people, while at the same time realizing she needed to. This book will keep you guessing until the end, it’s a fast pace, and will pull you in from the beginning. I give this a 5 star!

Full of twists and turns, often at breakneck speed

One morning, while home alone, Lizzy Beresford hears a strange noise. When she goes downstairs she finds an envelope at her door. The thing is, the envelope is inside of her door, jutting up between the floorboards. Who could've sent her the note, and how in the world did they get inside? Unfortunately for Lizzy, this note is the first of several. She began to doubt those closest to her -- her boyfriend, her neighbors, even her friends. The notes are far too personal. Someone knows far too much about Lizzy, and so, naturally, she is terrified. Lizzy has led a relatively comfortable life until now. She has a terrific job and is in a comfortable relationship with her boyfriend Joe. Lizzy is estranged from sister, Emma, however, and so she even suspects Emma of leaving her the letters. Due to a shocking change of circumstances, she reaches out to Emma, although this fills her with great trepidation, but she finds that she has no choice but to trust her. The Silent Sister is full of twists and turns, often at breakneck speed. Although this was a quick read, I thought I had a bead on the stalker, or even more knowledge as to why the sisters were estranged. But I must stop here in my speculation, as I certainly do not want to give any spoilers. Suffice it to say that this is a fantastic read, and I have to say that Shalini Boland completely surprised me. I had no idea who the stalker was, and I still had trouble wrapping my mind around it when I discovered who it was. If that wasn't enough to completely throw me off course, the ending was just as shocking. This was a fast-paced book, easily read in two sittings. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
